Human Person as Moral Agent

The term “Moral”comes from the Latin word “mores” which refers to
society’s pattern, standards, rules of doing things. In Sociology, Mores is a sub-
component of social norms. On the other hand,  “Agent” comes from  a Latin
word “Agere” which means “to do, or act.”   
Therefore, Moral Agent is one who performs an act in accordance to
standards (moral). Moral Agent is a moral actor, one who acts morally.
A Moral Agent is “a being who is capable of those actions that have
moral quality and which can be properly denominated good or evil in a moral
sense.” Only a moral agent is capable of human act. That is why morality is for
man as a rational and spiritual being.(Corpuz)
