Title: Process Control -Visual Inspection Of Acid Tankers.

1.0 Scope:
This procedure specifies the minimum requirement to carry out the visual
examination on the external surface of acid tankers.

2.0 References:
ASME SEC-V Article –9

3.0 Tools:
Measuring Tape, Mirror, Magnifying glass, and Pit gauge.

4.0 Inspection personnel:


Persons performing this inspection shall be qualified at least visual testing
examination level II (VT-II) as per ASNT– SNT–TC– IA / 1996.

5.0 Procedure / Technique :


5.0 Visual examination shall be carried out as per the following activities to
determine the surface condition of acid tanker.
5.1.1 - Inspect for any paint coating damage, pitting, and corrosion.
5.1.2 - Inspect any misalignment of mating surfaces.
5.1.3 - Inspect for physical damage on the tank shell, dish ends, nozzles,
air vent and overflow pipe.
5.1.4 - Inspect for any evidence of leaking.
5.1.5 - Check for any crack on the weld joints on the shell, dish ends,
nozzles and supports.
5.1.6 - Operate the discharge and vent valves and check their performance.
5.1.7 - Check the ladder, platform and handrail for structural integrity.
5.1.8 - Check the label for hazardous goods transportation.
5.1.9 - Report any findings with details and sketch for corrective action.
5.1.10 - Prepare a test certificate and Inspection Report - qf-091-12.
