Session 2: Elements of Communication Cycle
1. Explain why do you think communication is important with the help of an
example.
2. How communication forms the base for co-ordination and decision making?
3. What do you mean by a barrier in communication?
4. Briefly describes four barriers to effective communication.
5. List the basic principles of effective communication.
Session 3: Perspectives in Communication
1. Define the term perception.
2. List the factors that impact perception.
3. How past experience stops someone from communicating clearly?
4. Do you think beliefs affects one’s behaviour?
5. Give an example of cultural difference that impacts communication.
Session 4: Basic Writing Skills
1. Write one sentence of each type:
(a) Interrogative
(c) Declarative
(e) Compound
(b) Exclamatory
(d) Simple
2. Compare a phrase, a clause and a sentence.
3. Briefly describe the parts of speech with examples.
4. Explain the essential elements of writing a paragraph.
5. Write a paragraph on the topic, ‘There is no I in teamwork.’ Ensure you follow all
the rules about sentences and paragraphs you have learnt.
Session 5: Communication Skills
1. Write and read aloud four to five lines about yourself.
2. How will you greet the following at 4:00 p.m.?

3. You friend introduces you to her cousins. How will you greet and introduce
yourself?
4. In an interview will you speak formally or informally with the interviewer? Why?
5. What is a form and what is it used for? What information will you gather in a
form for school

Type: Short Answer Questions
1. List three common body language errors.
2. Categorise the following as verbal or visual means of communication.
3. Mobile ring, siren, railway signal, traffic light, zebra crossing, road signs, calling your friend, bill
boards, cheering for your team
4. Do you think a permanent record of communication is important? Why?
5. List the elements of communication process.
6. Clarify the meaning of saying ‘seeing is believing’, with the help of an example.
Type: Long Answer Questions
1. How body language supports or contradicts a message? Explain with the help of an example.
2. Good communication is what separates a poor leader from an exceptional one. Justify your
answer.
3. Explain the communication process.
4. A manager may be highly qualified and skilled but if he does not possess good communication
skills, all his credentials go down the drain. Comment.
5. ‘Behaviour does not always reflect attitude’. Explain the statement with the help of an example.
