WORK PROCEDURE FOR GYPSUM FALSE CEILING

1.Objective:-

This procedure is prepared to carry out ceiling and partition worksto line, level as per drawing.
2.Scope:-

Procedure shall be adopted for all the works of Architects evolution for the Sandvik Pvt Ltd,
Dapodi, Pune.

3. References:-

1. Technical Specification.
2. Approved relevant drawings.
3. BOQ item no:- SAND-BOQ-INT-01 – I – 59

4. Responsibility:-

Section in charge/Supervisor:

Concern section in charge and Supervisor shall execute out work as per procedure and
maintain the checklist for days work.

QA/QC Engineer:

To ensure proper methodology is being followed during execution.


5.Safety Precautions:-

Only trained persons should handle the activities.


Ensure that material handling/stacking shall be done in proper manner.
Use of PPE’s like goggles, hand gloves, helmet and gumboots.
Cutting tools shall be properly secured.
Proper lighting in work area.
Proper platform for the height works.

6. Material, Machinery, Equipment and tools used:-:-

Gypsum board of Saint Gobain, GI framing, Suspenders (Make : Saint Gobain Gyproc), Jointing
Compound, Right angle, Cutting machine, Grinding Machine, Level Tube, jointing tape etc.

7. WORK PROCEDURE:

SITE PLANNING AND PREPARATION


General provisions
Lifting, moving, and general transportation of materials and equipment will be executed only
under the supervision of the site in-charge.
Potentials for hazards (tripping, falling, slipping, etc.) will be isolated, made as safe as possible,
and will be made clear and evident by use of warning signs, barricading, and other necessary
notifications, provided by main contractor.
A tool-box-talk will be carried out by the site in-charge before the commencement of any critical
activity.
Permits, certificates, and other required documentation must be completed before the initiation
of any relevant work.

Prerequisite
Ensure all previous works relating to gypsum ceiling and partition works have been completed
prior to commencement of job.

1. Building of the block upstand.


2. Installation of the ducting system.
3. Finalization of electrical fit-out.
4. Dispersion of fire-fighting system

Ceiling System
1. Drop C-channels from the concrete ceiling slab to the level of the main ceiling support,
attaching the C-channels to the slab using a nail gun.
2. To the dropped vertical C-channels, fix on a horizontal plane the main ceiling support – an
arrangement of furring channels and C-channels bound together using wire clips.
3. Fix gypsum boards to the main ceiling support by means of gypsum black screws.
4. Reinforce the joints at the interface between gypsum boards using mesh tape and gypsum
joint compound.
5. Apply gypsum joint compound to screw holes and other areas as required.
6. Apply edge trim, corner tape and gypsum joint compound as required.
7. Complete cut-outs for relevant appliances (diffusers, lights, etc.) if applicable.
