Gyroscope Ship: Formulas To Be Remember

The document discusses gyroscopic effects on ships. It provides formulas for angular velocity, mass moment of inertia, maximum angular velocity of precession, and maximum gyroscopic couple. It explains how the direction a ship turns depends on the direction of rotation of the propeller as seen from the front or rear of the ship for steering. It also explains the gyroscopic effects on pitching and rolling based on the direction of propeller rotation. Several example problems are provided to calculate maximum gyroscopic couple and determine the directional effects for different ship maneuvers like turning, pitching, and rolling.
