A Building Network Interface Card (BNIC) is a four port, Level 2 Switch that enables you to access 4100ES FACPs via a Building Network.
This series of tutorials explains how to Install, Configure, and Use BNICs in 4100ES FACPs on a Customer’s LAN.
Follow these steps and click the corresponding movie to view the procedure for installing a BNIC within a 4100ES FACP.

1. Record the MAC Address number (label on BNIC) to the required field on the BNIC MIS/IT Worksheet in Technical Publication 579-949.
2. Connect P10 to the PDI and then secure the BNIC to the Card Rack using the supplied cap screws.
3. Connect an Ethernet cable from BNIC Port C to the Ethernet Port on the 4100ES Master Controller Card.
4. Connect an Ethernet cable from BNIC Port D to the Ethernet Port on the back of the 4100ES Front Panel Display.
5. Connect an Ethernet cable from BNIC Port B and STOP HERE – this connection will land on the Customer’s Building Network (LAN),
but not until the BNIC is properly configured with the Customer IT Department. Continue to Tutorial F0094 to configure the BNIC.
IMPORTANT: BNIC Port A is only for use if connecting a proprietary network of 4100ES Panels equipped with BNICs installed.
For proprietary LAN configurations, connect Port A of this BNIC to Port B of the next BNIC on the network (300 ft. max. distance) and so on.
