1. SCOPE

This result of calculations describes stress analysis of pipes from fuel gas system
supply to GTCP 2050 B in Jabung Gas Booster Station.

2. GENERAL

2.1. Software
This calculation is carried out with CAESAR software Version 4.20 developed by
COADE in the USA.

2.2. Code
This calculation note is in accordance with ASME/ANSI B31.3

2.3. Ambient Temperature

The ambient temperature has been considered equal to 70°F.

2.4. Load Case

Design Condition :
- Thermal + Pressure + Weight (OPE)
- Pressure + Weight (SUS)
- Expansions (EXP)

3. DEFINITIONS

3.1. Location
The piping systems to be checked are located on the following lines. Line number
to be checked and analyzing on the layout are:

4. DESIGN CONDITIONS

The pipe stress analysis to be checked and analyzed based on the table 1. The
mechanical characteristic shown in table 2.

5. STRESS ANALYSIS PROCEDURE

5.1. Design Loading

 Weight
Weight load is a summation of pipe weight itself plus weight of fluids for the
inside pipe section.
 Pressure
Design pressure has been used as load due to internal design pressures.
 Temperature
Maximum difference between ambient temperature and design temperature has
been used for thermal expansion calculation of the pipe.

5.2. Modeling

 Isometric drawing has been used for coordinate data modeling

 Anchor Points
 Pipe Supporting Maximum

5.3. Combined Stress Calculation

 Definition of Each Stress

Expansion Stress (EXP)

Expansion Stress produced by thermal expansion
(EXP) = L1 - L2
Expansion Stress stated here is same as 'Expansion Stress' prescribed in
ASME/ANSI B31.3 paragraph 319.2.2(b)(4)
Sustain Stress (SUS)
Sustained Stress produced by dead load and pressure load.
(SUS) = W + P
Sustained Stress stated here is same as 'Longitudinal Stresses' prescribed in
ASME/ANSI B31.3 paragraph 302.3.5
Operation Stress (OPE)
Operation Stress is a summation of the longitudinal stresses produced by
dead load, internal pressure, and thermal expansion.
(OPE) = W + P + T
Operation Stress stated here is same as the summed stresses prescribed
in ASME/ANSI B31.3 paragraph 302.3.6.

 Allowable Stresses
Thermal Expansion (EXP)
Allowable = SA + f (SH - SL)
SA = f (1.25 SC + 0.25 SH)
SC = basic allowable stress at minimum temperature
SH = basic allowable stress at maximum temperature
f = stress range reduction factor for cyclic condition
SL = longitudinal stress due to sustained loads
If SH > SL
SA = f (1.25 (SC + SH) - SL)
Sustain (SUS)
Allowable = SH
Operation (OPE)
Allowable = SH + SA

5.4. Case Calculation

The loads in this case are load combination from Dead Load, Pressure and
Temperature.

5.5. Simulation Result Evaluation

Based on the calculation result, the outputs will be evaluated from the following points
of view with the priority of listing order below:

 Maximum force and moment in the line

It could be seen from force and moment summary table that maximum force and
moment for each combination of loads.
 Maximum displacement in the line
It could be seen from displacement summary table that maximum displacement
for each combination of loads.
 Maximum stress in the line
It could be seen from stress summary table that maximum stress for each
combination of loads is less than that of allowable "CODE STRESS".

6. STRESS ANALYSIS RESULT

The final results of stress analysis for all line pipes for Fuel Gas System to GTCP 2050A
as follow:
 The maximum ratio is 58.3 % at node 1020 caused by SUS
 The maximum displacement is 3.919 mm at node 210 caused by EXP
