Thomas' Calculus: Early Transcendentals

Textbook: 14th Edition

TESTING AND GRADING POLICY: There will be three (3) tests worth 28.33% each (for a total of
85% of your grade) and online homework assigned on MyMathLab which will be worth 15%.

NOTE: There is no cumulative final exam and so as a result you must take all three tests and do well on all
of them in order to do well on the class.

Test 1 28.33%
Test 2 28.33%
Test 3 28.33%
MyMathLab Homework 15%

Grading Policy:
90 – 100 = A
80 – 89 = B
70 – 79 = C
60 – 69 = D
0 – 59 = F

Note: If you are caught cheating on a test (using your phone or a cheat sheet etc) your test will be taken away
and a grade of zero will be given.

Seating: I reserve the right to change your seating position in any lecture and/or test.

I reserve the right to make changes as needed. Any changes will be announced in class and by email as early as possible.
Attendance:
Attendance is highly encouraged. Roll will be taken at every class session. Students are responsible for all
material covered in class even if they are absent for a valid reason. If you miss 3 or more classes I may drop
you from class.

Math Lab:
The math lab is located at the STEM Success Center. There are tutors available who can help you with any
class material and/or homework. This is a free service to the students.

Homework:
MyMathLab Course ID: rodriguez35741
Homework will be assigned for each section covered in class. Each chapter contains several sections. The
homework will always be due the day of the test.

Withdrawal Policy:
If you decide to withdraw from this course, it is your responsibility to do so before the official withdraw date
in order to receive a grade of “W”. However, I periodically purge my class roster. If you are excessively
absent (up to my discretion) and do not inform me of a reason, you may be purged from the class.

Electronic Devices:
Electronic devices must be on silent or be turned off before class. If you receive an important phone call that
you must answer, never do so while in class. Please step out of the class first.

Calculators:
You may use a scientific calculator. Graphing calculators will not be allowed on exams.

Incompletes:
Incompletes will be given only in very limited circumstances. The student must have a passing average and
have a serious personal illness, family death, or unexpected crisis.

I reserve the right to make changes as needed. Any changes will be announced in class and by email as early as possible.
Course Outline:
Note: the following outline denotes the order the material will be
covered. No dates are pre-set as it is usually impossible to abide
by them perfectly.
