Task 1:

The pie chart illustrates what nursing graduates in the UK in 2009 chose to do
after graduating, while the table provides details about the career choices of
those who worked in the health sector.
Overall, it is clear that, the large majority of students chose to work in the
healthcare industry after graduating from their nursing courses, and of those who
decided on this career path, the majority of them worked as hospital nurses.
Looking at the pie chart in more details, the percentage of graduated nursing
went to work in health sector was significantly larger than in other sectors. To
illustrate, the figure for that registed 84 percent, which take on the largest space
in the pie chart. In contrast, the amount of people who decided to continue their
education and keep studying registed 2 percent, 8 percent of graduates chose to
continue studying and worked at the same time, 4 percent of graduates were
unemployed, and 2 percent of graduates chose other paths.
Additionally, of those who went on to work in the healthcare industry, the figure
for those who opted to work as hospital nurses is 72 percent, while 12.4 percent
became midwives, 10.3 percent became community nurses, 0.4 percent mental
nurses,1.3 percent became paramedics, and the remaining 2.7 percent chose
other career paths.
Task 2:
These day, there is a trend that many couples decide to have babies at least a few
years later since their marriage. Although I accept that the phenomenon has a
major disadvantage, this is outweighed by the advantages for the following
reasons.
On the one hand, personally, deciding to delay childbirth might bring about
some negative effects on both family life and society. More specifically, having
children in old aged can cause directly to women’s health. For this reason,
babies are not healthy enough or even die a premature death. Additionally,
having children later will cause a significant age gap between the two
generations. As a result, this makes it harder for parents to understand and
communicate with their offspring. For instance, it is reported that the rate of
women dying of childbirth after the age of 35 has increased significantly in
Europe, which recorded 35%, that is three- times higher than 30 years ago.
On the other hand, this drawback is outweighed by the following benefits.
Firstly, this choice allows them to have more time to enjoy life when they are
young. For example, it is easier for a young couple to travel when they do not
have a baby to nurture. Secondly, people who are at the early stage of their
career usually have lower income compared to when they are older. Therefore,
many people decide to start raising a family after having accumulated enough
money to ensure a better life for their children.
In conclusion, the phenomenon that the old- aged women decide to give birth
later in their life seemingly is a risk of women’s mental health. However, this
disadvantage is outweighed by the advantages when it is beneficial to both their
children’s future life as well as their financial burden.
