DC UPS Start Up And General Commissioning Procedure

1. Visual Inspection (Battery and Charger)

• Ensure room ventilation is adequate
• Warning label of high voltage to provided
• Ensure no hot work will be carry out
• Inspect for any sign of fallen object / water drip
• Ensure that device is installed as per design requirement
• Ensure all mechanical parts are torque
• Ensure that all kick plates are installed
• Ensure earthing cable is connected
• Ensure dust or conductive material are remove
• Ensure all power cables are wire correctly.
• Ensure all control cables are wire correctly
• Ensure fire extinguisher is available
• Ensure all trip signals are connected
• Any sign of corrosion on battery terminals.
• Battery are clean and dry condition
• Ensure all batteries label are fixed.
• Batteries vent plug properly install.
• Battery electrolyte level is between Max and Min level.

2. Start-up Procedure
• Check AC input voltage
• Switch ON rectifier input breaker
• Display initialize
• Measure DC voltage before battery breaker in float condition
• Ensure battery polarity, close battery breaker
• Measure output load voltage at load breaker
• Switch system to hi rate mode
• Check Hi Rate timer setting
• Measure DC voltage before battery breaker in hi rate condition
• Measure output load voltage at load breaker

3. Shutdown Procedure
• Switch OFF rectifier input breaker
• Switch OFF battery breaker
• Switch OFF load breaker

4. Alarm Test Procedure

• High Main Volt
Adjust the display till AC reading is +10% of nominal input voltage
Display show: “High Main Volt”
• Low Main Volt
Adjust the display till AC reading is -10% of nominal input voltage
Display show: “Low Main Volt”
• Charger Failure
Remove firing cable J1 on GCAU card
Display show: Charger Failure”
• High Battery Volt
Adjust the DC output voltage to +5 % of float voltage, measure before battery breaker
Display show: High Battery Volt”
• Low Battery Volt

AEG is a registered trademark used under license from AB Electrolux

Adjust DC output voltage to -5% of float voltage, measure before battery breaker
Display show: “Low Battery Volt”
• Low DC Volt
Adjust DC output voltage to 1.00 x cell numbers., measure the DC voltage at load breaker
Display show: “Low DC Volt”
• Ground Fault (if applicable)
Measure the DC voltage between +/- to ground,
+ to GND: Vdc,
- to GND: Vdc,
Apply a resistor between “+” / “-“to ground at 100 ohm per volt.
Display show: “Ground Fault”.

5. Waveform capture
• Rectifier AC input voltage and current
• Rectifier float voltage
• Rectifier hi rate voltage

6. Battery Commissioning

• Constant voltage charge (depends on battery condition and battery type)

With reference to battery IOM

• Battery Charge and Discharge test

Charge discharge test will be recorded with reference battery discharge table (Refer to battery document)

• Battery cell before and after discharge test will be recorded to determine the battery performance
