really doesn't like for whatever reason. Many smaller businesses feel that this notion permits
them to terminate an employee for nearly any rationale they want, as long as they don't break
any discriminatory practices or other regulatory frameworks or policies in the process.
Nonetheless, employment-at-will gives employees and employers more freedom in their
contracts. Employees are no longer restricted by the notion that they can either remain in a
given position if a better job opportunity comes up. Supervisors profit since there are lesser
constraints in existence, making it much easier to fire an underperforming employee. However,
we must not overlook the fact that this arrangement likely to increase the number of job
opportunities in businesses. Organizations that adhere to the employment-at-will idea have
much more accessible job options than those of us who adhere to employment contracts. Many
executives have a mentality that requires them to fire poor performers despite offering a
comprehensive replacement on hand.
