The document outlines guidelines for stripping formwork from cast-in-place concrete based on factors like member size and geometry, concrete strength, and project specifications.

Formwork can be stripped when field-cured concrete cylinders reach the specified compressive strength, or when other guidelines based on member size and geometry are followed if no strength is specified.

Guidelines are provided for stripping times based on member size and geometry, ranging from 3 to 21 days depending on the factor.

Unless otherwise specified in the project specifications, formwork and shoring shall be left
in place to support the mass of concrete in beams, slabs and in-place structural members
until the specified concrete strength f'c is attained. SAES-Q-001

Note: The preferred method of determining stripping time is by testing test cylinders that
are cured on-site or testing concrete strength in the field.

When no minimum concrete strength has been specified in the project specifications for
form removal, the following general guidelines may be used for normal weight, regular
strength concrete:
Walls, Columns, Sides of Beams & Girders 12 hours
Pan joist floors with 760mm wide pans 3 days
Pan joist floors over 760mm wide pans 4 days
Arch Centers with Live Load < Dead Load 14 days
Arch Centers with Live Load > Dead Load 7 days
