FUTURE PERFECT FORM AND USE

Form of Future Perfect tense:


Future Perfect is formed with the help of modal verb “will”, auxiliary verb
“have”and V+ED/3.

FOR EXAMPLE: I WILL HAVE FINISHED my work.


You WILL HAVE GONE to school.
We WILL HAVE COOKED dinner.
They WILL HAVE READ a new book.

It WILL HAVE STOPPED raining.

To make a Negative form we need to add particle “not”

Modal verb “will” has short form in both positive and negative forms:

POSITIVE FORMS: I’LL HAVE FINISHED my work.

We’LL HAVE COOKED dinner.
They’LL HAVE READ a new book.
She’LL HAVE DONE this project.
He’LL HAVE DRANK coffee.
It’LL HAVE STOPPED raining.

NEGATIVE FORMS: I WON’T HAVE FINISHED my work.

We WON’T HAVE COOKED dinner.
They WON’T HAVE READ a new book
She WON’T HAVE DONE this project.
He WON’T HAVE DRANK coffee.
It WON’T HAVE STOPPED raining.

A Question form of Future Continuous with the modal verb “will”:

1. General or Yes/No Questions:

I HAVE FINISHED this project? – Yes, I WILL. / No, I WON’T.

WILL they HAVE COOKED a dinner? – Yes, they WILL. / No, they WON’T.

L she HAVE DONE it? – Yes, she WILL. / No, she WON’T.

Common USE of Future Perfect tense:

1. Actions that will be finished before a stated future time.


Note! By, until/till are used with Future Perfect, but by is used in positive sentences, while
until/till we use in negative sentences.

FOR EXAMPLE: He’ll have read a book by the end of the day. (positive sentence)
He won’t have read a book until the end of the day. (negative sentence)
