PREPARATION OF BUDGET FOR A GNM SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION:-

 A budget is a plan which states anticipated expenditure in term of rupees or paisa. The
budget serves as guide for the year for which it is prepared, satisfying on framework
within which the nursing department function. A financial and quantitative statement
prepared prior to a defined period of time of the policy to be persued during that
period for the purpose of attaining a given objective. An important purpose of the
budget is the prevention of the expenditure is accessed beyond reasonable needs.
 Budget is a financial statement. It is a document which contains estimates of the
revenue and expenditure of the year.

STEPS IN PREPARING THE NURSING BUDGET:-

1. The principal tutor is responsible for preparing the budget for nursing school.
2. She prepares worksheets for personnel units, staffing requirement, expense budget
and capital expenditure.
3. She checks outs the anticipated activities for the coming year.
4. She collects the past data as a background material for preparation of budget to review
and assess the success and failure of the past.
5. She sets objective for the forecast year. Before setting, she examines the expressed
objectives of the previous years and notes the extent to which objectives have been
achieved.
6. The unit expenditures from each nursing service unit are received from the previous
document.
7. The budget preparation starts in the month of September.
8. The first draft of budget is sent to the document officer in December and it is received
for justification, addition or deletion by the account officer.
9. Again the principal tutor receives the budget when it comes back and the final draft is
made and sent for approval.
10. After approval, it sent back to the principal tutor by the end of January and by March.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

 After advertisement, the next step of recruitment process is selection of candidates


and sorting out or elimination of those judged on unavailified to meet the job and
organizational requirement. The selection procedure includes

I. Preparation of selection committee


 A set of job description and job specification for the required job must
be prepared in advance to assess the candidate.
 Other criteria like qualification, age and experience, mental and social
abilities to be prepared as performed to be kept ready before the
interview.

II. Steps in selection procedure


 Reception: It should be arranged in nursing superintendent office. It
should be specious, well ventilated and calm room.

III. Preliminary interview


 It includes checking of original certificates with application form and
attached attested documents.
 It also includes casual talk with applicant about her interest, job
expectation, attitude and other thing for the suitability of the job.

IV. Selection Test


 It may be written test on nursing, on an attitude on a personality test
which the selection committee prepare to know the applicant’s
knowledge and attitude towards nursing and nursing.

V. Actual Interview
 The selection committee holds the interview and the interviewer is in a
unique position of being able to evaluate information obtained from the
application form, preliminary interview test and background
information.

VI. Medical Examination


 Candidates selected provisionally are required to undergo a medical
test. It is very important to reject those physical qualification are
insufficient to meet the requirement in nursing. It is also useful to
obtain a record of physical condition of the candidate. Medical
examination includes
o Identification data
o Past medical history
o Physical measurement- Height, Weight
o Examination of all systems
o Examination of special senses
o Clinical examination of eyes, ears, nose, throat and
tooth
o Blood pressure
