Remove HDD Password (Zu) - Storage Devices - Linus Tech Tips

This document provides instructions for removing a password from an HDD using specific hardware and BIOS settings. It summarizes: 1. The first step is to disable ACHI and set the BIOS to IDE legacy mode. 2. Next, connect the HDD to a desktop PC using an IDE/PATA interface and power it on. 3. The password on the HDD should now be removed and the disk readable without any password. Taking these steps bypass the HDD's internal firmware password protection.

Older hardware might work better, and choosing the correct hardware, bios settings and sata port is everything!!!

An HDD can have a password set in it internally that can not be removed with repartitioning etc. Its in the HDD firmware or ASUS TUF Gaming Z590-Plus 0
something. This will remove that password. WiFi would support dual RTX 2060
  or any other dual GPUs?
Disks taken from PVR/TV boxes for instance might be password protected. By Erythromycin500
