Linking Statement
We always see images like these, because of what we are facing right now, and according to you these are
examples of signs or symbols that you usually follow for your safety. As we look around us we can find different
kinds of signs to help us to be aware and be informed of our surrounding. To be knowledgeable enough of these we
will discuss more of it. So for today’s lesson we will discuss about SIGN and SYMBOLS and throughout the
discussion you will work with your group and give meaning of the symbols or signs that I will be giving to you.
B. Guided Instruction
The world is filled with symbols. Sports uniforms, company logos, and traffic signs are symbols. Different signs
increasingly use symbols rather than words to convey their message. Symbols provide instant communication with
roadway users, overcome language barriers, and are becoming standard for traffic control devices throughout the world.
Every style has a specific color and sign shape that makes it recognizable worldwide.
Green Emergency – square or rectangular with a white image on a green background. Found on emergency exits, escape
routes, and on first aid kits.
Blue Mandatory – round sign with white images on a blue background. Instructions to wash hands, use a safety harness,
or wear safety glasses for example.
Yellow Warning – triangular with black edging and black image on yellow background. Warnings of electric shocks,
biological hazards, magnetic fields, and other nearby hazards.
Red Prohibition – round with black image on white background and red edging with a red diagonal line. Instruction to not
touch, not enter, no access, and even evacuation
