Heat Transfer Assignment Problems Set #10 - Sec. 2 – August 4th, 2021
Problem #1: Part A: The shingles on a roof are maintained at a surface of 333 K as the roof is losing 12 W/m2
of heat. The edges are very thin compared to the surface area being irradiated. Air with a heat transfer coefficient
of 40 W/m2K and a temperature of 300 K flows over the surface providing uniform convection. The emissivity is
given by:
𝜀 = 0.4 0 ≤ 𝜆 < 6.006𝜇𝑚
𝜀=# !
𝜀" = 0.8 6.006𝜇𝑚 ≤ 𝜆 < ∞
Determine radiosity if the surroundings are maintained at 300K.
