A STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIAL IN ENGLISH FOR GRADE 10

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

At the end of the lesson, the Grade 10 students are expected to use the cases of
pronouns in sentences and narration. Specifically, they sought to:
1. identify the correct pronoun used in a sentence.
 

GUIDE CARD

Hello, I am Linsy! Are you familiar with him? What about her? Did
you already meet them? Have you seen it? Are you confused
now? Do not worry! This is an Intervention Material that helps you
to know the cases of the italicized pronouns in the former
sentences. It contains activities and exercises for you to practice
the cases of pronouns. There are also guides and examples along
the way. So, what are you waiting for? Let us learn altogether and
be the masters of all cases!

ACTIVITY CARD

Activity Card 1: Choosing the Correct Pronoun

I am Charlie and welcome to the world of pronouns! I have trouble


choosing the correct pronoun. I will be very thankful if you can help
me.

Directions: Choose the correct pronoun that completes each sentence. Select your answer
from the given choices inside the box. Write only the letter of the correct answer
before each number.

parenthesis. Then write DO (direct object), IO (indirect object), or OP (object of a preposition) to
describe its use.

THE CASES OF PRONOUNS (NOMINATIVE CASE, OBJECTIVE CASE AND


POSSESSIVE CASE)
The Nominative Case. Use the nominative case for the subject of a verb or for a predicate
nominative. When a pronoun used as a subject or predicate nominative is followed by an
appositive, the nominative case is still used.

The Objective Case. Use the objective case for a direct object, for an indirect object, or for the
object of a preposition—even if the pronoun has an appositive

The Possessive Case. Use the possessive case for showing that something or someone
belongs to someone else.
