vals.
• For ATVs equipped with an odometer or an hour meter, follow the km (mi) or hours maintenance

A drive chain that is too tight will overload
the engine and other vital parts, and one
that is too loose can skip and damage the
swingarm or cause an accident. Therefore,
keep the drive chain slack within the speci-
fied limits.

c. Loosen the locknuts 3.
d. Turn both adjusting bolts 4 in direction a
or b until the specified drive chain slack is
obtained.
NOTE:
To maintain the proper axle alignment, adjust
both sides evenly. (There are marks c on
each side of the swingarm and on the drive
chain pullers.)
CAUTION:
Excessive chain slack will overload the
engine and other vital parts; keep the slack
within the specified limits.

H a. Set the tire pressures and adjust the shock
absorbers to the specifications.
5 m (16 ft) b. Place the vehicle on a level surface, 5 m

(16 ft) from a wall.
c. Measure the distance “H” from the floor to
the center of the headlight, and then place a
mark on the wall at that height.
d. Place another mark on the wall, 5 cm
(1.97 in) lower than the mark made in step
(c).
e. Apply the parking brake, start the engine,
and let it idle.
f. Switch on the low beam, and then check the
height of the headlight beam on the wall
while straddling the vehicle. The headlight
beam cut off line (the border between dark
and bright) should be aligned with the mark
made in step (d). Adjust the headlight beam
if it is not aligned with the mark.
