ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: No read. No Write. Story of Mang Deolito

Conflict Identification
The most important factor to achieve goals in life is education. Mang Deolito couldn't read or
write that’s why he had fewer opportunities when it came to applying for work. However, a lack
of education does not guarantee that you will always be at the bottom. Mang Deolito proved to
everybody that he can do better solely to provide for his family. He may found it difficult to deal
with the stress of adult life such as applying for work and taking a career promotion test due to
his condition, but at least he did and sacrificed everything for his loved ones.
Overall, Mang Deolito’s concern is facing a lot of problems due to his lack of knowledge.
Plan of Action
Illiteracy can only be addressed if education is free or, at the very least, is affordable or accessible
to those who are living in extreme poverty. The majority of illiterates were unable to attend
school due to financial problems.
As a CWTS student, I believe we should engage in community programs like "Brigada Pagbasa" so
that we can help families who are unable to send their children to school. Furthermore, I believe
that parents should make an effort and prioritize teaching their children how to read and write
while they are still young, as these are both important skills to have, particularly in our
technologically advanced generation.
I think that the government should also double their fund for the education of young Filipinos.
Giving the youth access to education to help them become educated and civilized members of
society allows them to learn to grow as a person while also understanding the responsibilities of
their actions.
Reflection
In our country, Philippines, quality education is only open to those who are middle class since
they are the only ones who have access to proper education. As we all know, education is not
and should never be a right reserved solely for the rich and privileged because education is the
foundation for understanding of the fundamental human rights.
The story of Mang Deolito depicts the significance of education to each and every one of us. It
made me realized how lucky and blessed I am to study in a great school that’s why I need to work
harder to be successful in life.
