consists of a narrative featuring human
actions perceived or believed both by
teller and listeners to have taken place
within human history. Narratives in this
genre may demonstrate human values,
and possess certain qualities that give
the tale verisimilitude.

about the Fables of ‘’The Monkey and
the Jellyfish’’.
We are going to tackle one of the
famous fables. It is entitled ‘’The Monkey
and the Jellyfish.’’
Are you ready listen and learn? Yes we are.
F. Discussion
What is a fable? Fable is a cool genre, a concise fictional
story, in prose or verse, that features
animals, legendary creatures, plants,
inanimate objects, or forces of nature
that are anthropomorphized, and that
illustrates or leads to a particular moral
lesson, which may at the end be added
explicitly as a concise maxim or saying.
That’s right.
A fable differs from a parable in that the
latter excludes animals, plants, inanimate
objects, and forces of nature as actors
that assume speech or other powers of
humankind.
Read and understand the story silently.
After reading we are going to discuss the
story pattern of that fable.
What is the purpose of the main
character on the story?(Purpose-
Achieved Story) The purpose of the main character is to
get the monkey’s liver.
How does the jellyfish invite the
monkey to come with him?(Story of Wish
Fulfillment) He tricks the monkey.
What does the jellyfish tell to the
monkey and discover to trick him back to
save his liver and life.(Story of discovery
and reversal) The jellyfish unknowingly asks the
monkey if he has his liver with him.
Why do the jellyfish punished by the
king after he came back to palace?
(Incident story) (answer may vary)
