Business/Materials Lesson Objectives

a. Story: The necklace by Guy In a 60-minute session, the pupils will be able to:

Warm-up and Objective Discussion


a. Teacher will group the class into four and let them assemble the puzzle into 3 minutes.
ASK: Based on the given picture, what do you think is our lesson for today? (Students
express their ideas about the pictures.)

b. The teacher will present vocabulary terms that they will be encountering later on.
(Unlocking of difficulties). The difficult terms are presented using sentences: detested,
shabby, catapulted, jaunt and aghast

c. The teacher will discuss the meaning of each word.

Instruct and Model  R  W  L  S

a. Explain all the elements that the activity will have such as duration, objectives,
division of the book into chapters.

b. Teacher will tell the class that they will be reading a story entitled “The Necklace by
Guy de Maupassant.

c. The teacher also will mention the importance of the elements of the story.

d. The teacher will present the guide questions that they are going to answer at the end
of the story using Power Point Presentation.

1. Why did the invitation displease Mademe Loisel?


2. Why did Madame Loisel borrow necklace to Foreister?
3. Describe in your own words how Loisel life changed after they paid for the new
necklace?
4. What was the reaction of Foreister’s reaction when the necklace was returned?

e. The teacher will hand in the story to each student.

f. The students read the story for 15 minutes.


Guided Practice  R  W  L  S
a. Before answering the guide questions, the teacher will present Story-telling Chain
activity. The teacher will discuss the mechanics of the activity.

b. Discuss the answer on the guide question with the students.

c. The teacher will play the video and asked the students to take notes on the element
of the short story mentioned the video.

d. Let the students discuss the elements of short story with partners.

Independent Practice  R  W  L  S
a. Identify the elements of a short story on the story “The Necklace”. This activity
is through Kahoot! The students are given 1 minute to answer each questions
flash on the screen.

1. Characters
2. Setting
3. Plot: Introduction, Climax, Ending
4. Conflict : Internal and external conflict

Assessment  R  W  L  S

a. Students are asked to read another short story entitled Monkey’s Paw by WW Jacob
and they will dissect the story employing the elements discussed.

b. The teacher will wrap-up the elements of short story using a Power Point
Presentation.
