PURPOSE OF THE DOCUMENT

The Project Charter will serve as an internal document that captures high level planning information
(scope, deliverables, assumptions, etc.) about the Project.

The Project Manager creates the Project Charter in the Initiation Phase of the Project, in consultation with
the Business Manager. Its purpose is to recognize the existence of the project and to begin the planning
process required to accomplish the Project goals. It is not intended to be shared with the customer as a
formal contract or legal document.

The Project Charter is an input to the Definition Phase of the Project where much of the information
contained herein forms the basis for detailed project planning.

1. PROJECT GOALS

Data Electronics is a pioneered CCTV solution provider that operating in Sri Lanka which is located at No.301, Main
Road, Attidiya, Dehiwela. The company has been operating in Sri Lanka with technical knowledge & experience from
Singapore Power Station and Police Station since March 1998. Inventory is one of the most important assets of the
company because it represents about sales of products. This project is conducted in order to build a software application
which is able to make this inventory maintenance purpose ease and more systematic by keeping track of product quantities.
This management software features and functionality to streamline process with better quantity tracking, loss reduction,
reduced costs, and overall optimization of facilities management performance.
2. DELIVERABLES

1. Create a user-friendly interface to get the most out of the system.


2. Provide the ability to manage & generate reports.
3. Creation of a database with the use of inventory items list which is given by the client.
4. Transferring existing system to the new one seamlessly.

3. SCOPE DEFINITION

The application will be introduced to the one & only branch in the country to the purpose ease of maintenance of
inventory items in the company network. End users from the branch will be able to access to the system and perform
following tasks.
▪ Store information on part number, images, quantity & price.
▪ Monitor inventory levels.
▪ Get real time-info on what's in stock and what's not in stock.
▪ Generate inventory reports.
The system will include all the electronic items and the system will not include human resources, vehicles, furniture
and property.

4. PROJECT MILESTONES

• Research of current systems used by the business, its limitations and errors.
• Development of the concept of the solution.
• Development of the Project Charter.
• Presenting project proposal.
• Creating software requirement specification document.
• Presenting prototype system.
• Creating and implementation of test plan.
• Final product demonstration.
• Handover the software product to the client.

5. ASSUMPTIONS, CONSTRAINTS & DEPENDENCIES

Assumptions
• The current method of manual maintenance management is prone to be erroneous.
• The proposed system avoids the drawbacks of the current system.
Constraints
• Time: 4 months.
• Scope: Should be limited to the provided limitations of the project proposal.
• Cost: Effective fixed cost is paramount to the success of the project.
Dependencies
• The owner and the supplier to be actively using the application for business activities.
