the number of “sparks” the motivator has for you. 2) Write down additional personal motivators
on the bottom of the worksheet. 3) Identify your top 3 and put a 1, 2, and 3 in the space to the

Other strong motivators for me include: 1. _Personal Growth_2. _Influence__ 3. _Freedom__

Worksheet # 3 – “A Successful Fire”

1. Identify a goal you have achieved in your life that was meaningful.
A goal that I achieved in my life was finishing Systems Analysis and Design. I was put into a
group where I was pushed into being a programmer for the first time because I was the only with
the resources such as laptop, etc.

2. What was your motivation for achieving your goal? Was it the motivation of being
challenged? To have a sense of personal power? To learn something new? To be recognized?
Or something else?
It was definitely a motivation of learning something new and being challenged. Even though
I initially did not have the experience of being a programmer, it got me out of my comfort zone,
and I did what was needed to be done.

3. Write the steps you took towards your goal.

- Research the modules and functionalities that are needed for the system.
- List down a to-do list so it can help me with the tasks that should be done.
- Design the whole system and database.
- Add the functionalities and other details into the system.
- Make it a habit to do a trial and error to check or maintain the system.

4. What meaningful results did you experience in your pursuit?

I learned a lot from the experience, and it pushed me to discover some things and skills on
my own. It also gave me an insight on what my possible tasks are when I do get a job and it also
showed me what my strengths and weaknesses so I can improve them even more.

5. How were you able to stay motivated to keep pursuing your goal? What kept your fire
burning?
It really kept me to stay motivated to pursuing my goal especially if it’s your first time trying
to get the goal you want. I just always remind myself that whatever the result is, at least you get
to have the experience you need when you get to do it next time around.

Worksheet #4 – “The Fire that Faded”

1. Write down a recent goal you set but did not achieve.

A goal that I did not achieve was when I did not pass, and I was not able to get a certain
certification that I really wanted.

2. What motivators inspired you in the beginning?

The motivators that inspired me was the sense of accomplishment and the motivation of
learning. Like I said, I always try to remember that learning new skills and having an
experience will get me inspired to do better.

3. What factors caused you to lose your motivation to achieve your goal? (Explore and write
down all the deterrents to your success.)

Sometimes the fear or worry that there is a possibility that I might not get my goal. And

then if I did not get it, it can sometimes affect my whole mood and it can get me discouraged.

Those factors can sometimes affect other things as well. I guess it all comes down to cool

down, get time for myself and then do the other things that I need to do as well.
