OBJECTIVES

This project comes with the basic objective of helping us students to excel in various included
topics of computer science. Ms-word, Ms-excel, Ms-PowerPoint and HTML are the specific
chapters we are expected to work successfully on. The main objectives of the project are
enumerated below:-

 To work on paragraphs and text formatting in Ms-Word.

 To create a sample calendar of a month, an ID card, an SLC mark sheet and a sample of
newspaper advertisement.
 To successfully Ms-Excel along with creating a mark ledger and a salary sheet.
 To work on particularize presentation in Ms-PowerPoint.
 Finally to excel in web designing using Hyper Text Markup Language.

py
co
After the completion of the project, we will most certainly acquire adequate knowledge on the
e

enlisted topics which will behold strong significance to our education and to our future.

WORD PROCESSING
The creation, input, editing and production of documents and texts by means of computer system
can be simply defined as word processing. In other words, we can say it is the composition of
documents using a computer system. Word processing also enables us to print the document
related on various topics

WORD PROCESSOR
To perform word processing we need a special kind of application software called word
processor. The word processor emerged as a stand-alone office machine in the 1970s and 1980s,
combining the keyboard text entry and printing functions of an electric typewriter with a
dedicated computer processor for the editing of text. Some of its examples are
MSWord ,
word perfect,
wordstar ,
lotusnotes etc. py
co
MS-Word
e

Microsoft word is a word processor designed by Microsoft . It was first released in 1983 under
pl

the multi-tool word for Xenix system. It is a component of the Microsoft office software
m

system. It is also sold as a stand alone product and included in Microsoft works suite.
sa

FEATURES OF MS WORD
The common features of Microsoft word are words and sentences can be inserted , altered, or
erased, paragraphs or text can be copied or moved throughout the arcticle, and spelling can be
confirmed and personalized through the spell check feature. Additionally under this application ,
multiple copies of letters can be produced with different addresses through the mail merge
facility.

APPLICATION OF MS WORD
Some of the applications of Ms word are editing, and publishing documents , checking spelling
and grammers of document. Web publishing ,mail merging and image insertion are also its
applications. Not only this formatting and editing documents etc. It is also used for colouring and
numbering documents pages , mathematical calculations and macro handling.

PRESENTATION
Powerpoint is a presentation program developed by Microsoft. It is included in the standard
office suite along with Microsoft word and excel. The software allows users to create anything
from basic slide shows to complex presentations.

CONCEPT OF PRESENTATION
A presentation is a collection of data and information that is to be delievered to a specific
audience.A powerpoint presentation is a collection of electronic slides that can have text,
pictures, graphics, tables, sound and video. This collection can run automatically or can be
controlled by preenter . Powerpoint is presentation software that can be used to create slide
shows for printing , on screen projection , or web based display.

Pictures and graphics are a big part of any Powerpoint. They can be added using the icon on the
content layout slide types or simply by using the insert tab on the ribbon.
py
Most powerpoint presentations are created from a template which include a background color or
co
image a standard font and choice of several slide layout.

SPREADSHEET
Spreadsheet is a computer application which helps for handling, manipulatingand analyzing
data.moreover. it helps for data presentational using chats and it also helps for decision making
for the managers . it is used for preparing marksheet ,salary sheet, bill etc.it is an electronic
documents having multiple rows and columns where we can put data for further manipulation
and analysis.ms excel is the most popular application software developed by the microsoft
company.

FEATURES OF SPREADSHEET
 It allows us for keeping records in the worksheet and workbook .
 It allows us for sorting, filtering and conditional formatting of given data.
 It provides various mathematical , stastistical and logical formulas for data

manipulation.
It provides various charts for presenting data.
py

 It helps for statistical analysis, financial analysis, scientific, engineering data analysis
and research works.

Cell Reference
A cell Reference is also known as cell address.A cell reference allows users to access data in the
cells .MS excel supports three types of cell References : Relative Absolute and mixed cell
References.

1.Relative cell Reference : If the reference of a cell automatically changes when we copy
data from one cell to another then it is called relative cell reference. It is very useful during data
manipulation. We can apply formula with relative cell reference for a cell and we can apply the
same formula for the other cells by simply dragging. Example : A1 ,A2 etc.

CLASS XI 10
COMPUETR SCIENCE

2. Absolute cell reference : If the reference of a cell remains same when we copy data from
one cell to another then it is called Absolute cell reference. It is very useful during data
manipulation. We can apply formula with absolute cell reference for the particular cell. It is
defined by using $ sign. Example : $A$1, $A$2 etc

3.Mixed cell Reference : Mixed Cell Reference is used both absolute and relative cell
reference. For example: A$1, $A2 etc

CELL
Cell is the intersection of rows and columns where we put data inside it. A cell is unit element of
worksheet and it has unique address defined by respective column name followed by the row
number which is called cell address . for example : Cell address A1 means row A and column 1.
The address of the cell is displayed on the address bar while we select the cell.

A web page is simply electronic document wriiten using HTML tags. A Markup language
provides a way to describe the structure and the behavior of information on a web pages.
Hypertext is a type of text which connects to the other documents . Moreover It is used for
organizing information and for linking related documents together using words or link. Such
links are called hyperlinks.

STEPS FOR DEVELOPING WEB PAGES

1. Write HTML codes using any text editor such as Notepad
2. Save the file using extension .html or .htm
3. Open the html file in web browser such as MS Internet Explorer

TYPE OF TAGS py

Single tag : These types of tags donot have ending tag. It is also known as empty tag. Examples
:<BR>, <HR>, etc have no ending tag.

Conclusion
Though the common trend among us is to take these Academic activities as a formal job (which
is correct for a different point of view), I really enjoyed doing this project. I started the work the
first day I got my copy of assignment and completed 80% including printing and binding jobs
within a week and spent some days on its moderation. I have tried really hard to make it look
perfect. Now, I am Satisfied with my project and the report.

My Future Plan
Computer science is my favorite subject and is primary (it doesn’t mean I underestimate other subjects). I
am thinking of either becoming a software engineer or doing my graduation with major subject computer
science.
