LEARNING PLAN IN SELECTING AND ORGANIZING INFORMATION

DURATION: 1 WEEK
LET’S LEARN

Brainstorming
● An informal way of generating topics to write about, or points to make about your topic.
● is an individual or group activity.
● Using this technique, efforts are made to make a solution to a particular problem
● Ideas are gathered and listed from the input of every member.
Methods in Brainstorming
1. Idea list - Simply involves listing ideas about a particular topic. It also helps you find the main
idea and supporting details. It is appropriate to textual people, or those who are more
comfortable in processing words than visuals. Simply requires you to write the main topic and
then write down all related concepts below it.
Example: TOPIC (Unemployed)
Jobs, poverty, salary, lack of education
2. Idea map - also called webbing or clustering. It is also visual representation of ideas and their
connections with one another, more structured and is able to show how one idea subordinates
another idea.
3. Organizational Chart - A chart that shows the structure of an organization.
4. Free Writing - set a time limit and number of words or pages. Just write. Do not edit yourself. It
allows someone to work without inhibitions. Turn off the editor in you and allow the writer in you.
5. Venn Diagram- It is used to identify similarities and differences
LEARNING ACTIVITIES between two or more concepts

LEARNING PLAN IN PATTERNS OF DEVELOPMENT

DURATION: 1 WEEK
LET’S LEARN

A Pattern of Development in writing refers to the particular strategy writers use to develop ideas. It
is logical arrangement of thoughts. Whether you are aware of it or not, you already use patterns of
development to express yourself. The different patterns help you follow ideas easily and understand
a text better.
I. Narration- the most basic pattern of development. It describes how, when, and where an event or
occurrence actually happened. Also used to tell a story or focus on a set of related events.
Components of Narrative Text
1. Logical Actions are considered the very movementswithin the plot or the narrative that drives
the characters forward, be it during the dialogue, or within a scene.
2. Way of Narration refers to how the writer presents the story.
3. Terminology place emphasis on the fact that concepts are critical to the narration.
- Concrete Terms words that identify things, places, and events that can be measured and
observed.
- Abstract Terms refer to ideas or concepts that are intangible
- General Terms commonly used to denote groups
- Specific Terms refer to an individual component of the group

Activity 1: CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING!

strongly. Try to give as much detail as possible. Use a separate answer for your

II. Description the pattern of development which goes into details about a specific object, person, or
location, in order to firmly set its appearance.
Characteristics of Description
● has a clear focus and sense of purpose
● uses sensory details and precise words
● presents details in a logical order
Varieties of Description
● Objective Description looks into factual and scientific characteristics of what is being
described as objectively as possible.
● Subjective Description a sort of description that the author would normally use to “paint
a picture” of how he sees a character, or how he wants the reader to see a character
