Sources Of Recruitment
Since the Business Development Manager position requires a considerable level of
experience, we will be ruling out hiring fresh graduates through placements or other sources.
1. Promotions/ Transfers from within the organization
Promoting employees already working in the company, in the same department would be
much easier because it saves the company’s resources in terms of time and money.
Because Apple would not have to create an extensive recruitment procedure, money would be
saved. The promoted employee will save time. She will not require extensive training
because she is already familiar with the company culture and job requirements.
A Business Development Manager has to engage directly with the existing as well as new
clients. An employee from Apple would have a better understanding of the important clients
and therefore be better at client management.
Business Development Executives who have shown exemplary performance and brought in
fresh ideas to Apple will be considered for the position since this job requires people who can
find new clients, markets, and new opportunities.
Transfers from other departments can also be considered who show exemplary performance
in their fields. For example, an employee who has worked with the sales and marketing
department has extensive knowledge of the market which can be beneficial for this job role.
This way of recruitment will also motivate other employees to be more productive in the
hope of growth opportunities.
2. Referrals
An Employee Referral Program can be put into action. The current employees will
recommend people for the position of Business Development Manager in return they will
receive monetary incentives.
An existing employee has a better understanding of the kind of person required for the job
and the company, so she will recommend a person who fits into all the categories well.
Only roughly half of all candidates who landed a job at Apple applied online, according to
Glassdoor.com. The other half had their interviews because of a referral from a coworker. As
a result, at Apple, referrals are extremely valuable.
A bonus is that the employees will take extra effort in recommending ideal candidates
because they will be motivated by the incentive.
4. Poaching
Employee poaching, also known as talent poaching or job poaching, is the practice of hiring
employees from competitor companies.
Apple would approach the potential candidates who don’t have a no-poach agreement with
their firm.
A successful skilled Business Development Manager from the competitor company can fix
the shortcomings of Apple and help increase productivity.
In 2015, the United States was ranked first in the world. A $415 million settlement with
Apple, Google, Intel, and Adobe was accepted by a San Jose District Court to conclude an
anti-poaching action. According to court records, the companies agreed "to refrain from
actively soliciting each other's workers" in a civil lawsuit. The US Department of Justice
clarified that job poaching was permissible in a subsequent order. As a result, Apple is
allowed to hire qualified employees from its competitors under the law.
5. E-Recruitment
E-recruitment, also known as online recruitment, refers to the use of web-based technology
for the various processes of attracting, assessing, selecting, recruiting, and onboarding job
candidates.
This method would save time and hiring costs since it is easily accessible, we get a broader
source of candidates.
Job boards like LinkedIn, Indeed, and Monster will be used for job posting.
These job boards provide a resume database, filtering option, and streamlines the whole
process.
For example, LinkedIn has a built-in ATS system that helps shorten the process and prevent
the unnecessary waste of resources.
Since the eligibility criteria are vast for the position of Business Development Manager, just
filtering out the candidates constitutes a major part of the recruitment process. With a website
like LinkedIn, the company has to just chose the appropriate filters like the number of years
of experience, the department candidate works in, and academic qualifications. Putting in
keywords like strategy, marketing, and sales further streamline the options.
6. Recruitment Process Outsourcing
A procedure in which an employer outsources all or part of its recruiting processes to an
external service provider is known as recruitment process outsourcing.
RPO service providers have better analytics at hand to find an exclusive pool of candidates in
the specialized field we require.
Since the post of Business Development Manager is one that requires fresh ideas and more
skills, Apple can look for employees out of their branch’s state or even country. The laws and
regulations governing recruiting differ by country and area. RPO service providers are
expected to be well-versed in both international and domestic labour regulations, ensuring
that their clients confront a low-risk recruiting procedure.
Apple has always believed in having in-house recruiters as well as contract recruiters to
ensure maximum reach postings
