Formatting Bullets and Numbering

Let’s See
 Differentiate bullets from numbering
 Add bullets and numbering in a document

Let’s Ask Ourselves

 What is the difference between bullets and numberings?
 How do we add bullets and numbering?

Let’s Discover Sure , Sophia!

My birthday is near,
and I want to help my
parents in the preparation. I
will make the drinks on that
day, but first I have to
complete the ingredients
and learn how to make
them. Can you help me
out, Phil?
To help Sophia and Phil, we should make two (2) lists; lists for ingredients and the other one for the
steps.
A list is a number of connected items entered consecutively that are in bullets or numbers. We use
bullets to create a list in no particular order, while we use numbers to create a list that gives an order of
importance.

Bullet List Numbered List

 Crayons 1. Open book.

 Pencil 2. Turn to page 10.
 Paper 3. Get red crayon.
 Scissors 4. Color the cars in red.

We should know the two (2) types of list that we need for the ingredients and the steps in making the
drinks. To make the lists on a document, let us open Microsoft Word using any of these options:
 From the desktop, we double-click the Microsoft Word icon.
 From the Start button, we:
1. Click All apps.

Number List
The number list ids the type of list that we use to enumerate the steps in making beverage. To make the
list, let us do these steps.
1. Type the following steps in each line as shown below.
To do so, type the steps, and then press the Enter key to go to the next line.

down to the last item.
3. Go to the Home tab to locate the Paragraph group, and then click Numbering. A library of numbering
styles that can be in numbers or letters is shown.
