Gaurav is an attentive, eager, and diligent person, with a keen academic intellect and
unmatched dedication. Throughout our interaction, I have known him to be passionate about his
career with a hunger for in-depth knowledge and a real knack to solve tough problems. He
respects deadlines and will put in tireless efforts to accomplish his goals within the specified
time without compromising on quality. He is a marvelous computer programmer with an
unbelievable speed of execution. Let me give an example to elaborate -
The early outbreak of COVID-19 in Maharashtra in March 2020 brought in a lot of
chaos. On average, more than one thousand covid-19 lab tests were being done in almost every
district. All the results were first manually read from the RT PCR machine screen and written on
a worksheet, and then typed into a computer. This was very time consuming and required huge
manpower of data entry operators and technicians. Many government and private labs were
having a long backlog of pending test results. Moreover, there were huge lines of patients and
their relatives at the lab reception to get reports defeating the purpose of social distancing; in
many areas, because of lockdown restrictions, it was very difficult for patients to even get their
reports.
Gaurav and his team at Cloud Pathology developed a solution that involved extracting
data from various RT PCR equipment and analyzing the raw data to determine positivity or
negativity. The results were then sent to patients automatically via SMS/WhatsApp. I guided him
on how the analysis of results is done and supervising the overall work. Despite being from a
non-medical background, Gaurav understood the analysis process very quickly and was able to
write software that can analyze the RT PCR results in the same way as a human would. We
worked very quickly, and along with his team, he was able to complete the entire solution in
mere five days. Data analytics was employed to extract crucial statistics for government bodies.
The developed solution was so effective, it got rid of the data entry altogether, helping
labs to complete four times more tests in a day. The reports were sent digitally to patients,
referring doctors, and district authorities automatically. This helped reduce a lot of stress and
anxiety among citizens. After the successful implementation of the system in one district, it was
soon adopted by every almost every VRDL lab in Maharashtra. The swift and accurate execution
in the time of need was what I was most impressed with.
I was Gaurav’s first client for Cloud Pathology and have acted as an advisor for the
overall development of the software. During our first few months of work together, I observed
that, as with many first time entrepreneurs, Gaurav was trying to do everything on his own. I told
him about the importance of delegating and that he should trust his team members with more
responsibility. As it turned out, Gaurav was already aware of this, just did not know how to
improve on it. We discussed some strategies that he could undertake. Over our interaction, for
the next two years, I observed his team size to grow, with separate teams for development,
marketing, and deployment. Due to his cordial attitude, he is capable of getting the full
involvement of all his team members to derive the best results possible and is always there to
help and encourage his colleagues. I was delighted to see how quickly and effectively he has
acted on my advice.
