Sound Blaster - Minijack configuration

Summary:
 There are three analog line out jacks (Line Out 1, 2 and 3) on most Sound
Blaster cards.

To connect the Home Theater cable from a Sound Blaster card to an home theater A/V
receiver, follow the procedures below. Each connector on the Sound Blaster Home
Theater Cable is both color coded and clearly identified in text with its intended
location.

1. Power off your computer and your home theater receiver.


2. Locate the Line-Out jacks on your Sound Blaster card located in the backplate.
3. Connect the 1/8" mini plug connections to the Line Out ports on your Sound
Blaster sound card.
 Lime Green to Line Out 1
 Black to Line Out 2
 Orange to Line Out 3
4. Connect each of the labeled RCA plugs to the corresponding input on your home
theater receiver. Use all available inputs on your receiver.

The following information on pin assignment (channel allocation) is helpful if you


prefer to use cables from different sources, or use a combination of cables.

7.1 Sound Blaster cards

The 7.1 Sound Blaster cards include Sound Blaster X-Fi, Sound Blaster Audigy
4 Pro, Sound Blaster Audigy 4, and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. The compatible
speakers are 7.1 speakers such as GigaWorks S750, Creative Inspire T7700,
T7800.
There are 3 analog Line Out jacks on these cards. Line Out 1 is a standard mini
stereo jacks for sending out Front Right and Front Left signals. Line Out 2 and
Line Out 3 are 4-pole mini jacks.

Line Out 2 is configured as: Rear Left, Rear Right, and Side Right

Line Out 3 is configured as: Front Center, Subwoofer, and Side Left
6.1 Sound Blaster cards

The 6.1 Sound Blaster cards include Sound Blaster Audigy 2. The compatible
speakers are 6.1 speakers such as Creative Inspire T6600.

There are 3 analog Line Out jacks on these cards. Line Out 1 and 2 are standard
mini stereo jacks (3-pole) for sending out Front Right and Front Left, and Rear
Right and Rear Left signals respectively.

Line Out 3 is a 4-pole mini jack for sending out Front Center, Subwoofer, and
Rear Center signals.

Line Out 2: Rear Left, Rear Right


Line Out 3: Front Center, Subwoofer, and Rear Center

This adapter is generally found at audio/visual stores and is commonly sold as a


video camera to VCR adapter.

5.1 Sound Blaster cards

The 5.1 Sound Blaster cards include Sound Blaster Audigy, Sound Blaster Live!
5.1, Sound Blaster Audigy LS, Sound Blaster Live! etc. The compatible
speakers are 5.1 speakers from Creative Labs or others.
There are 3 analog Line Out jacks on these cards. All of these jacks are standard
mini stereo jacks (3-pole). The Line Out 1 is for sending out Front Right and
Front Left, Line-Out 2 is for sending Rear Right and Rear Left signals, and Line
Out 3 is for sending out Front Center, Subwoofer signals.

The Line Out 3 is also doubled as a Digital Out jack for connecting to external
digital device such as a Dolby Digital Receiver, or a Speaker system with a
Digital Input.
