Brody the Emoticon Brody the emoticon is famous for his style, and if you ever meet him, you will likely see his :-) But if you come across him on a day he's feeling down, instead of giving you a :-) he'll look at you and :-( On other days he'll ;-) at you. He'll sometimes blow a :-* and if he's feeling playful he'll stick out his :-P like this. But, oftentimes, he's simply bored and can't resist a :-O because there's nothing else to do for an emoticon. --Kenn Nesbitt Copyright © 2012 Kenn Nesbitt All Rights Reserved Today's My Favorite Holiday By Kenn Nesbitt + Today's my favorite holiday, 1 a day to sing and dance and play. +a day to laugh and jump and run, +a day for having loads of fun. + Today's the day | celebrate. : I'm overjoyed. Homes by Betsy Franco Homes can be trailers, Homes can be boats, Home is the place where you hang your coat. Homes are apartment and mansions and tents. Homes can be wooden or stone or cement. Homes can be large. Homes can be tall. Homes can be cozy and friendly and small. Wherever you live, if it's old or it's new, your Home is your “Home Sweet Home” to you. The Earth Speaks by Lenore Hetrick The turning earth spoke in a somber voice. “Four seasons I give you,” its deep voice said. “T give you spring when the lilacs bloom, Tgive you autumn when the maple is red “Summer I give you all crowned with sunshine, And winter of snow and icicle spears. Four seasons I give you with all their joys! And all their pleasures and all their fears! “Take my four gifts and use each one, Use each wisely, kindly and well, So that upon the year's last hour Aworthy record you date to tell.” The turning earth spoke but once again. “Four season I give you," its voice was low. “The gifts are yours and yours is the task To use my gifts as best you know.” ‘© Woodrcom. All Rights Reserved Februarys Trick The little buds on the trees awakened, And shook their drowsy heads, The little buds pulled the covers down, And climbed out from their beds. A soft breeze told them winter had gone Many long miles away, And the little buds were eager to see Their first bright springtime day. But alas! In half an hour there came Awind so bitter cold! The little buds were terrified For they were just one day old! They didn’t know what in the world to do! Their little noses were red. Each bud with a cry turned swiftly back, And hopped into its bed. You see it was not spring at all! February was there, And sometimes February slyly Lays a foxy snare. To hang around and sing, And make the buds think that it was The first day of spring. He had sent this lovely springtime breeze \ Then when the buds had all come out, He nipped each little nose, And sent the little buds back to bed, Each one red as a rose! by Lenore Hetrick © Woolrcom. All Rights Reserved. THE PRETTIEST NAME by Lenore Hetrick All the months have pretty names, But I like the name of May the best. It makes me think of meadow lands In all their spring gowns neatly dressed. Their bonnets are of marigolds, For buttons they use daisy eyes, And for a sash they use a brook Bluer even than Maytime skies. The word October calls to mind Maple leaves a fiery red. December makes you think of snow, And woolly blankets on your head. But May! That sweet name makes me think Of music on a springtime night! I think it is the prettiest of all, Just made of blossoms, pink and white. © Woodrcom. All Rights Reserved. The SChoolhouse by Lenore Hetrick School is where I spend long hours Learning the world's legends and stories. learn of the wonders of ancient times. learn of Greek and Roman glories. I travel into the dusty past, And from their tombs the kings arise! I take a trip with some fair queen, I dine beneath those long-gone skies. Pioneers and those who ventured To a frontier fraught with danger Come alive and speak to me, And make me feel I'm not a stranger. learn of icy climes where snow Lies eternally on the peaks. learn of lands unknown to man Where the voice of the jungle hoarsely speaks. The trade winds blow and carry me To countries that I've learned to know, And wet with rain in a tropical land The weeping monsoons blow and blow. The schoolhouse is a magic place For it changes so many, many times. And before I can blink I'm miles away Dwelling in far off colorful climes, Til be sorry when the day has come That I must leave this enchanted room, And when I say goodbye I know Til fee! the very deepest gloom. “¥: ‘© Woodrcom. All Rights Reserved A Funny School Poem For Kids My teacher calls me sweetie cakes. My classmates think it's funny to hear her call me angel face or pookie bear or honey. She calls me precious baby doll. She calls me pumpkin pie or doodle bug or honey bunch or darling butterfly. My class is so embarrassing I need to find another; just any class at all in which the teacher's not my mother. ~Kenn Nesbitt
