Installation Procedure

Prerequisites:
1. macOS Sierra 10.12
NOTE: There is a known issue with Mac Menus for macOS High Sierra 10.13, therefore it is
not currently supported. This issue has been reported to Apple and is expected to be fixed
by a macOS update.
2. The Java Runtime Environment must be installed in your Mac – Oracle Java SE 8 64-bit
(update 40 or newer) – available from the following link:

macosx-x64.dmg
OR latest available from Oracle Java website:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
3. SAP GUI is not yet supporting Gatekeeper, therefore you may be required to explicitly
exempt it from Gatekeeper in order to be allowed to launch the SAP GUI for Java
application. Please refer to Apple’s knowledge base article About Gatekeeper for details.

Installation:
Please ensure you have checked and actioned (as required) all prerequisites before continuing with
installation.

Section 1: Installing SAP GUI 7.50 for Mac OS X


1.1 Download the .jar file on to your desktop using the following link:

1.2 Double click on the downloaded SAPGUIJAVA750_1.JAR file. The installation process will
commence.

NOTE: Please ensure you have actioned Gate Keeper suggestions from within the
prerequisites section of this document.

Click ‘Next’.

1.4 Read Me screen will appear. Click ‘Next’

1.5 The installation options will appear. Modify the installation path with required. Select
‘Install’.

1.6 Press OK. The Install program will proceed to install the SAP GUI into your selected folder.
Once it is complete, you will see the following screen. Click ‘Close’.

1.7 Your installation is complete. You will be able to locate the application by using your
Launchpad and searching for SAP

1.8 Now, you can drag the SAPGUI 7.50rev1 application icon into the Dock:

*** You are now able to start the application by clicking the icon in the Dock, but DO NOT start the
application until you have completed the Section 2***

1.9 Next you will need to download and copy the “connections” file into you Library. Please
follow the steps outlined in this Section:

Section 2: Setting up the Connections file

2.1 Use the following this link to download the “connections” file:

2.3 Once you have opened the file on the browser, it will appear as text in the browser
window:

2.4 Go to File -> Save Page As… on the Top Menu Bar.

Save the file to your Library/Preferences/SAP folder using the following Save As dialog (which
should have appeared):

2.5 Open a new Finder window to navigate to the Library/Preferences/SAP Folder’.

2.5.1 Use the Top Menu, ‘Go  Go To Folder’

2.5.2 A dialog box should pop up in front of you Finder window:

In the text box, please type: ~/Library/Preferences/SAP

*** Note: you may be asked for your Mac username & password to verify access privileges ***

2.5.2 Select the connections file and select ‘Perform Tasks with Selected Items’ icon as
highlighted below.

5.2.4 Select ‘Get Info’

2.5.5 From the resulting screen. Expand Name & Extensions and remove.txt. Close the window.

Close the Window, confirming you wish to remove the extension when prompted.

2.5.6 Ensure SAP GUI is closed and all other files in the ~/Library/Preferences/SAP folder are
removed before closing File Finder.

Section 3: Starting the SAP GUI
3.1 Now, please open the SAP GUI for Java by clicking the Icon in your Dock (from step 1.7).
The following screen should appear:

3.2 Select ‘Close’ on the SAP UI Landscape migration. If you have copied the
“connections” file to the correct folder, you will see a long list of servers appear as below:

3.3 Locate and double click on the system assigned to your university. Your Lecturer or tutor
will provide you with these details along with your Client, User Name and Password.

3.4 Once you have selected your server, and providing the SAP GUI connects successfully, the
following screen may appear:

Select ‘OK’ which should provide you with the SAP Logon Screen:

3.5 In the Client box, please enter the client number provided by your instructor.
3.6 In the User and Password boxes, please enter the Username and Password provided by
your instructor.

Section 4: Additional notes
4.1 For SAP GUI connection, your infrastructure support team must ensure the port 3299 is opened.

4.2 Please do not forget to ENABLE the gatekeeper feature in Mac OS after you have done with the
installation if you have disabled it in step 1.

4.3 Please make sure you are logging into the correct system and client assigned to you.

4.4 Please establish connection to the correct system that is specified by UCC. You may have a
problem with logging in if you establish connection to a different system.
