iLearn Quiz

The quiz will become available on iLearn in Week 4 (Tuesday 10 August at 6am) and due
in Week 4 (Sunday 15 August at 23pm). The duration of the test will be 60 minutes.
There are two attempts allowed for this quiz. The highest grade of the two attempts will
be recorded as your final mark.

The exercises will assess the material covered in Weeks 1-2 of lectures (material covered
in SGTA classes held in weeks 2-3) and your ability to use statistical software to conduct
statistical analyses. It is your responsibility to find an appropriate location with a reliable
internet connection where you can complete the quiz. It is advisable to plan this in
advance.

Mid-Semester Exam

The second assessment task, the Mid-Semester Exam, will be held in Week 7. It will
cover the material presented in lectures weeks 1-5.

 Type of Assessment
The test will be an iLearn quiz similar in structure (but not content) to the Week 4 iLearn
quiz. However, it will not require you to download datasets. Instead any summary
statistics for a dataset will be provided on the page and the test will asses:

 your ability to compute further necessary statistics using the provided summary
statistics
 your knowledge of course material through multiple choice questions or numeric
answer questions.

The goal of the assessment is to assess your statistical skills and knowledge.

Test length

You will have 40 minutes to complete the test.

Availability

Your Mid-Semester Exam will be available as a link under the Assessment tab on iLearn
during Week 7 from 6am on Tuesday 7 September to 23pm on Sunday 12 September. It
is your responsibility to find an appropriate location with a reliable internet connection
where you can complete the exam. It is advisable to plan this in advance.

Exam Conditions

The mid-semester exam is not supervised and is open-booked. You do not have to
download any dataset this time around so there will not be any questions that you can
only solve in R. All questions can be solved by hand with a calculator and a set of
statistical tables. Obviously, we recommend you to use R which is a much better
calculator.

Test structure and content

You will be given your own test, with your own randomly generated questions, which
differ from those of other students in your class. The scope of the material is Lecture
Weeks 1-5.

Multiple response questions

There are questions on the Mid-Semester Exam where multiple answers can be selected.
If this is the case you will see the following statement:
"Note: There are multiple correct options. Marks are awarded for correctly selected
options but deducted for incorrectly selected options."

Assignment

You will submit your assignment as a reproducible PDF document through

the Turnitin submission link that will be available through iLearn (below here). If you
want to score full marks, you will also need to use Git version control to push the
assignment into a designated repository (instructions inside the assignment questions
file).

Rubric ( from Session 1, in Session 2 marks for questions may change )

The Assignment is worth 20% of the unit marks. This is an assessment task that will test
