Logic has been studied for centuries because it provides both theoretical and practical value. Studying logic gives knowledge for its own sake as it teaches clear and systematic principles useful for understanding philosophical and non-philosophical issues. Knowledge of logic allows one to reason clearly, avoid bad reasoning, evaluate arguments based on evidence rather than propaganda, develop a critical attitude towards assumptions, understand terminology across disciplines, communicate precisely, and value systematic analysis.
