VALUE EDUCATION

Definition
Learning about self and wisdom of life in a exploratory, systematic and
scientific way through formal education.

Concept
Value education brings the happiness to all people in the world. Though there
are different types of people in the world like Americans, Europeans, Asians
and Africans and their culture, customs, traditions and food habits are
different. All the human beings have the two uniform things one is biological
needs and second is psychological feelings. These two things relating all
human beings. Every human being expects happiness in life irrespective of his
social status and financial conditions but happiness is not the physical thing
it’s a psychological feeling in fact happiness means to be in the state of liking.
Respect gives the more happiness to all. Having everything like job, property,
relatives, friends, security in life gives us lot of respect. But instead of all these
valuable life gives us permanent happiness. Even though we have everything
except respect what value is there in our life? To be happy in our life we have
to have the value based life and that only makes us feel happier forever.

Content
The larger participation of human being in existence is the content. We are
observing existence around us. If we keenly see each one in existence
contributes its own. For instance tree gives oxygen receives corbandioxide
and gives us paper, wood etc, animals, birds, fishes and what not. But there
contribution is limited, human being contribution to the existence must be
unlimited and they should participate vary largely than all other things in
existence.

Scope
Human values scope ranges from human being to entire existence. Human
beings should have values in all dimensions like thought, work and behavior.
At the same time human beings should follow values in all levels of life like
individual, family, society and in nature.

Need for value education

Value education need is very large in fact because we are all concentrating on
subjects, marks, ranks and grades and finally we are turning a brilliant in
education and in jobs. We are taking everything lightly and ignoring our
family and social responsibilities. We are all having busy life and all our target
is to earn more money which we think that gives us happiness. To know what
gives us real happiness, satisfaction and peace of mind we need to study value
education.

To identify the correct aspiration

Everyone are having so many aspirations like to become doctor , to become

actor, to become an engineer, to become an scientist, to become sports person,
to become an IAS,IPS etc,. but to make it true we have to select correct
aspiration that should become our life goal once we achieve it with hard work
and commitment that gives us more happiness and confidence our life. To
select the correct aspiration we need to some practical things weather our
aspiration is achievable or not if we kept wrong aspiration we cannot reach
our target. Our education, family financial position, family support, and
available resources we have to analyze. After analyzing all factors properly we
have to select correct aspiration but it should be taken as early as possible.

Human values and basic aspirations

Aspirations which we set as our targets must contribute to human values.

Humanity, honesty, sincerity, kindness, modesty are the human values. Our
aspirations whatever it may be should have all these values. Human values
cannot be changed because of place, religion, caste, color, race etc., with our
aspirations even we are in super power position we should never forget the
human values.

Values and skills

The ideal qualities are values and to achieve the ideal qualities is skill. The
first skill is to be healthy by then we can achieve anything. Proper
maintenance of health is first skill second is commitment and hard work third
is confidence and positive thinking forth is learn from failures and never take
failure to heart. These are skills of mind. In our aspirations let it be any which
is our choice we must make values are invariant. Then life becomes valuable
and meaningful.

Values and beliefs

Beliefs are in evidences. Without any proof and evidence people believe these
beliefs. Like studying in cities gives us more knowledge, studying in business
schools makes us big managers there are so many. These are all general
consensus we need not to believe if we have confidence and believe in fact we
do our efforts to achieve aspirations and that is valuable believing beliefs is
not valuable.

Technology and values

All the technology which contributes to human being welfare more and more
by providing convenience ,timesaving ,comfort ,accuracy and saving the
resources. What values we have to find in technology is honesty. Because the
ultimate target of technology is to enhance the happiness and welfare of the
human beings.

Basic guidelines for value education

There are particular guidelines for value education.

Universal

Universal means same for all. In world there are many countries and each
country has got its own geographical features and territorial customs.
Americans, Europeans, Africans, Asians and Australians so far different types
of people are living.

Their culture, traditions, religions, caste and habits are very. But the all the
human beings are having two things are common one biological needs and
psychological feelings are same. Because of these reasons everyone has the
same needs. So that the values like perseverance, bravery, kindnesses,
generous are common for all.

Natural

Values are natural in the sense that the values need not to be enforced and
instructed. Since values are the nature of human being everyone has to follow
by their self examination. There is no point of some values are meant for
Americans and cont be followed by others. Values are common for everyone.
Honesty, sincerity, humanity, kindness are the natural values.

Applicable

Values to be applicable for all and all positions. Values never give chance to
any discrimination like rich ,poor and so on. Values see only the way how one
could live himself meaning fully and make contribution to the society in a
larger way.

All encompassing

All dimensions of human life like thoughts, work, behavior and all levels like
individual, family, social and nature. One has to reflect values in thoughts
,work ,and behavior. Some people lookalike gentlemen’s but their thoughts
not so. ethics in work and control in behavior is need. Individually we must
have the character. In family we have to respect the relations. In society we
have to respect all peoples professions and contributions because we are
living in society which is depending on cooperation of each one.

Leading to harmony

Feeling of happiness in all dimensions is called harmony. That is possible

through value education. Value education makes us to get comprehensive
understanding of our self and others. This is very important to have the
harmony.

Self exploration means self examination. Everyone have to explore themselves

to get right understanding of human beings. In the process of self exploration

This is the basic question that we have to raise our self. we will have the basic
aspirations like to become rich men, to become doctor or engineer , to become
manager, to become scientist like that everyone have the aspirations. But the
question is whether we achieved it or not if we achieved our aspirations we
feel very happy in our entire life if we fail to achieve our aspirations there will
be conflict in our mind we can never have the happy life.

Myself and the entire existence

We have to understand the relationship with entire existence. In this existence
everything is contributing to human being life. Human beings have the ability
to utilize the nature to his welfare and happiness. Through the self exploration
human beings they have to understand that they are one part in the existence
but not separate.

Relations in family
Self exploration makes us to understand the relations in family. All the
members in family are not having the same behavior and character if you
explore yourself in their positions we can know the reason for different
behavior of our family members. If we are not exploring our self we may
misunderstand our family relations.

In society
Society is the club of all kinds’ people. If we does not have the exploration
mind it is very difficult to understand all the people live around you. All
professions are need to society. We alone cannot have anything. Because of
the every one cooperation human beings surviving in life. in any means one
should not look down and insult because of profession, religion, caste, colour
and money.

Process of innateness (svatva), self-organized

(swatantrata)and harmony with whole existence (swarajya)
Innateness means inner strength and we have to try to live according to our
innateness. Which leads to self organization (swatantrata) which leads to feel
harmony with whole Sexistence (swarajya).

Process of self exploration

What is the process of exploration?

Self exploration process means verification of proposals based on human

values.

Example you will pass the exam if take coaching (Civil Services, Medical or
Engineering, Management and Banking Exams)

Accept or reject.

Do not accept the proposal based on assumptions if you take coaching because
of only coaching we cannot clear the exams (Reject)

If we do hard work with dedication we will clear the exam.(Accept)

Another proposal is if you have the luck you will become I A S Officer

Reject it

Another proposal is if we do hard work for the civil services you will clear it.

Accept it

Acceptance or rejection should be verified based on our natural acceptance

not by assumptions.

In case of our behavior and in case of analyzing others also we have to follow
the exploration process. Self exploration process leads to get the right
understanding.

Natural Acceptance
Natural Acceptance means based on the verification and validation of human
values human beings have to accept all. Natural Acceptance is inner behavior
of all human beings that remains with us forever .

Cannot change by time

Natural acceptance is an invariant of human being which cannot change with
time. For example respect, trust, happiness is common for all. Exchange of
these values are accepted. It does not relevant to time.

Cannot change by the place

There different people living around the world. Even though their culture,
traditions and food habits are different natural acceptance is invariant with all
the people. Kindness, helping, mercy, good behavior is accepted by all the
human beings.

Natural acceptance is a continues process

Natural acceptance is continues since it is inherent in all human beings. This
cannot change by age and other things like financial position, power and social
status.

Natural acceptance cannot depend on past things

Natural acceptance cannot influence by past things. It always present in all
human beings it sticks with the self verification and human values.

Happiness and Prosperity as the parts of value education

Happiness
Happiness is a broad concept it is very difficult to define. All human beings are
living for happiness. Whatever their profession or financial status or social
status irrespective of that they expect happiness. In fact it is ultimate objective
of all human beings.

Happiness can be defined as the state of liking. To be in the state of liking

means one can have any type of likings like smoking, drinking etc, but this is
not correct. Happiness is a mutual concept. Your state of liking must be the
state of liking of your family and to the society. That is actual happiness.
Happiness cannot come by only physical facilities. Physical facilities can fulfill
our wants but not gives us satisfaction in case of relations. Human being
cannot live alone he is a social person for human beings need relations.

The state of disliking is unhappiness. We should be very care full of our

disliking whatever we dislike naturally we have to drop it or we have to try
why we are disliking if any misunderstanding from our side to be corrected.

Prosperity
Prosperity means to be in the state of more than physical requirements. More
then physical requirements mean relations. So that prosperity means physical
requirements and relations. Physical requirements are necessary to lead our
life at the same time we need relations in all levels our life than we can feel
our life is prosperous.

HUMAN BEING IS JUST MORE THAN THE BODY

Human being is the combination of two components one is I(self) and second
is Body.

HUMAN BEING=I(SELF)+BODY. If there is only body without I (which is also

called alive ness) that body is called dead body and if without body if I(Self)
appears that is called athma or spirit or devil. So that human being is the
combination of I(self) and the Body.

We obviously considered that human being is more than just the body
because I(SELF) is the property of consciousness and it commands the to
follow its instructions each and every time except the biological needs of the
body. I(SELF) has the power of thinking, knowing, understanding, assuming,
recognizing ,analyzing ,imagine ,expectation and estimation. By these great
powers I(self) has to utilize the body for fulfilling its wants.

Body is also has got the same importance for providing co operation to
I(SELF). Human being have to maintain the body perfectly otherwise it cannot
cooperate. Proper food and sufficient water and rest and work to be given to
body. As the all human being aspirations are continues happiness and
prosperity those are achievable if both I(SELF) and Body coexist together.

HARMONY OF THE SELF WITH THE BODY

Human being is the combination of I(self) and Body. I(self) have to co exist
with the body for its fulfillment of basic aspirations.

Harmony is the combination of consciousness and material hear material

means body, we can understand that consciousness is self regulation and

material body means health. If our body is not functioning well we can never
feel harmony with our body. All parts of our body must function to its capacity
and such body is called healthy body. What is the consciousness of human
being is to protect our body since this is our instruments to achieve all the

Body acts according to the I(self) instructions.

I(self) utilize the body to achieve its aspirations.

I(self) should have the self regulation.

Body should have the proper coordination for its functioning.

These four are the factors for harmony in self and the body.

UNDERSTANDING NEEDS OF THE SELF AND NEEDS OF THE

BODY
Understanding the needs of body and self is really complex matter because
even though both are in human being both needs are entirely different. The
I(self) is the property of consciousness and body is the property of physic
chemical and biological stature.

The needs of I(self) are feeling related. It is purely depends on psychological

attitude. So that respect, trust, happiness are the needs of the I (self). All these
are of consciousness and body is the property of physic- chemical and
biological stature.

Needs of the body

Needs of the body are food , clothing. Because food is a biological necessary to
human being. Without food we cannot live. It is very important to feed the
body to keep our body healthy. Without body cooperation even though we are
genius we need body support to prove it. The second one is clothes, to resist
from the nature and to protect the skin we have to wear the clothes.
Important thing is both needs of body food and clothes are the consent of the I
(self) because I (self) feels happy if we take different food every day and
changes time to time . we cannot wear same clothes every day because I(self)
cannot accept it cannot feel comfort and happy. So that needs of I(self) and
needs of body are directly or indirectly related to the I(self).

UNDERSTANDING THE ACTIVITIES IN THE SELF AND THE

ACTIVITES IN THE BODY

There are so many activities are there to I(self) we have to discuss very
important activities.

THINKING, ASSUMING, KNOWING, RECOGNIZING.

THINKING

I(self) has the capability of thinking in fact it is its strength. Thinking is a never
stopping process. All other activities of I(self) are related to thinking only.
I(self) in thinking always expects happiness.

ASSUMING

I(self) assumes the consequences of its thinking. If one commit to do wrong

thing what would be the result and if good things done what would be the
result. How one can get harmony and happiness can be assuming by I(self).

KNOWING

I(self) can know what is what? This is natural to I(self). Without anybody
teaching I(self) can know what gives happiness to it.

RECOGNIZING

I(self) naturally recognizes everything in the existence.

HARMONY IN FAMILY

VALUES IN FAMILY RELATIONS

Family is the major source of the person. Without family support no one can
develop alone. We learn all relationships in family and we have to live
accordingly to that values. If we ignore family values for any reason the
system of family and value of the relationships collapse.

There are nine important values in family relations.

1. TRUST

The feeling of related to all in family is trust. In family trust is the

important aspect without trust we cannot find happiness in family.
All the family members should have the trust one and each other.
Different types of professions will be carries out by the family members
sometimes they need to spend days in outside of the family but when
they come to home they must feel the trust. Our character and behavior
will give confidence to our family members. there should not be
suspension and doubts about the family members.

2. RESPECT

Right evaluation is called respect. We respect the family members for

their contribution and sacrifices for the family sake. We should not
ignore the family member’s hardship to run the family. The young
generation without certain understanding criticizes the elders of the
family. But the respect is a one type of appreciation which come because
of our valuable life and character. If we do not have the values and good
character even family members can not respect us.

3. AFFECTION

The feeling of attachment with family members may called affection.

Parents show affection on their children. They sacrifice their life for
their life. They always look after their children.
Parents don’t mind any hardship that they need to face for the welfare
of the children. Money t, Time, Properties, whatnot all, they spend for
the children development. But at the old age of our parents we have to
reply this affection on our parents. We should not abandon them.

4. GRATITUDE

Remembering our family member’s services for our development and

serving them with that sense is gratitude. We have to remember our
family member’s services for the family welfare and happiness. Even
though they may not have sufficient money and professional
qualifications and higher education but they serve to their family as a
servant. This thing we should not forget in our life.

5. GUIDENCE

Brought up of the children with values and character may called

guidance. With at most care parents and other elders in family will
brought up the children till they their own knowledge. If there was no
guidance they will become antisocial elements. Our behavior, character,
thoughts and discipline are taught by our elders in family.

6. GLORY

Respecting our family member’s legacy or history and feeling proud of

that is glory.
Whatever the family history and family member’s professions we
should accept and respect.
As the noble family how they feel proud their family history a small and
poor man family members also must feel same proud of their family
because it is yours family.
Our name, fame, wealth and all achievements possible because we
belongs to our family.

7. CARE

Human being is the combination of body and self. Under the care
concept as a family member we have to nurture and protect the body of
all our family members. In family all have to feel responsible for one
and each other. Our money, assets, property and other things have to be
shared with all family members.

8. REVERENCE

The feeling of acceptance of excellence in the other is called reverence.

In family father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, anti, grandfather,
grandmother and so on.. all these might have their excellence to run the
family and to have the harmony in themselves, as a family member we
must accept and respect their excellence.

9. LOVE

The feeling of related to mine is love. But slowly this feeling expands
from related to mine to related to every on that is true love. Love is the
main source for the family. If there is no love in family that family
breaks down and the family values cannot be protected. We have to give
more importance to love and relationship than money and other
physical things.

UNDIVIDED SOCIETY

Relationships like love, affection, care, trust starts in family if all these
relationship feelings expands to world family that is called world family
of undivided society. Understanding of relationships is justice. If the
children learnt the justice in family when they grow they easily
understand the relationships with others in society and in world. We
have to extend these relationships world family. All human beings are
same there might be differences in geography and other things but as a
human being people living in the world are equal. At the times of natural
calamities and disasters time every one responds with humanitarian
grounds.
We should love all and feel every unit in world is yours. Our
contributions and scarifies should reach to all the human beings in the
world.

COMPREHENSIVE HUMAN GOAL

The comprehensive human goal of all human beings is to achieve the basic
aspirations that are continues happiness and harmony in life. The attitude that
consists right understanding, prosperity and trust and co existence in nature
is called the comprehensive human goal.

The basic components of the comprehensive human goal are

3. Fearlessness or trust in society
4. Co-existence in nature

Right understanding

Understanding the other people as we understand our self. This is very much
need to all the human beings to create the harmony in society.

Prosperity in family

Prosperity in family means that the family is able to identify its needs and is
able to produce or achieve more than its requirements.

Fearlessness or trust in society

Fearlessness means every member of the society feels related to everyone

else.
If all the people in society have good behavior and right understanding they
need to be fear.

Co-existence in Nature

Relationship and complementarily among all the entities in nature is called co

existence in Nature. Human being must know the fact that he and his
surroundings are depending on nature.

FIVE DIMENSIONS OF COMPREHENSIVE HUMAN GOAL

Comprehensive human goal is consisting right understanding, prosperity,

trust and coexistence with the nature. There are five dimensions to attain the
comprehensive human goal.
1. EDUCATION – RIGHT LIVING
2. HEALTH – SELFREGULATION
3. WORK – PRODUCTION
4. JUSTICE – PRESERVATION
5. EXCHANGE – STORAGE

EDUCATION – RIGHTLIVING

Education means the programs of literacy, training and information

transferring. But it is not correct the real education is studying our self in all
dimensions of life and understanding the co existence between existence and
human being.

Present day education is not giving the confidence to the people about their
life. It is teaching how to multiply the physical needs. Education is causing for
the dissatisfaction and deprived. The programs of education must set the
platform for right living

HEALTHE – SELFREGULATION

The proper co ordination between body and the self is health. Under the self
regulation controlling of epidemics, infant mortality rate , maternity mortality
rate is the key factors. We have to achieve this completely.

WORK – PRODUCTION

Work means putting the physical labour in to the nature. Production means
getting the output from the nature by putting the physical labour.
A family if they want to have the prosperity they have to work hard.

JUSTICE – PRESERVATION

Justice means giving due respect all the people. We have to feel everyone is
related to us. Needs and desires of all the people are same every one try for
getting happiness in life by doing hard work. There is no difference in the
concept of happiness. Understanding and following it is justice.
Preservation means as we preserve the physical facilities we have to preserve
the relations.

EXCHANGE – STORAGE

Sharing of the physical facilities among the people in society may called the
exchange. Example, a former will share his crop in society. An industrialist
also shares his production in society. By doing this the goods and services will
fulfill the wants of the human beings.
Under the storage after the fulfillment of the physical requirements the
remaining facilities must be stored for the future generations.

The nature is consisting human beings, living beings, non living things all
these have been classified into four orders.

1. Material Order
2. Plant/Bio Order
3. Animal Order
4. Human Order
MATERIAL ORDER

All non living things like stones, soil, water, metals etc,. comes under this
category.
Activity

Composition and Decomposition

E.g.; Composition in Material Order is formation of new things and

Decomposition means if anything in the nature decomposed that will get
other formation like a tree if decomposed that would be used as the furniture
to home. This is activity of the material order.
Innateness

Innateness means inseparable from the material order. The innateness in

material order is the existence.
Natural character

Natural character in material order is small things if join together becomes big
one if destroy it appears like small particles. Eg; A Mountain is the
composition of small sand particles.

HOLISTIC HUMAN ALTERNATIVE

The concept of holistic human alternative is derived from the right

understanding. Human beings need right understanding in all levels of life
that is personal level, family level, social level and in nature. Right
understanding needs consciousness. To achieve the holistic human alternative
we have to follow humanistic education and humanistic constitution.

Humanistic Education

Present day education is transformation of knowledge this is making the

students to know how to win the bread in their life but the real education is
soul liberating education. Making of life should not be the objective of life but
the meaning full life is more important. Humanist Education teaches the
significance of life. Education teaches the successful life.

In early age of the education children must taught the right understanding

HUMAN RIGHTS

The natural principals or norms are called Human Rights. Human rights are
applicable to all human beings without any discrimination like gender, colour,
creed, race, region, religion, ethnic and country. According to Johan Lacke
natural rights means right to life, right to liberty and right to estate. The
importance of human rights are identified during the medieval period in
Europe.

At the time of American Independence very first time human rights are
mentioned and at the time of French revolution also human rights have given
more importance. Human rights are changing by time to time from sixteenth
century onwards till this decade. Finally in 1948 December 10 UDHR (UNITED
NATIONS DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS)declared the international
human rights which are applicable to all the human beings just because of we
are human beings. In INDIA in 1994 human rights are declared as the law.
