Module 9 Visual Art - Basic Elements
Kinds of Lines
a. Horizontal Lines
> Similar to the skyline that articulates composure.
b. Perpendicular Lines
> characterized by an upward or downward movement that
implies toughness.
c. Diagonal Lines
> also called slanted lines that either rises or falls which
implies energy or movement
d. Curve Lines

> twisting, wavy lines
e. Zigzag Lines
> combination of slanted lines that can be angular in nature or
instantly change path
2. Shape
> an art element which has height and widths and can have geometric or
organic shapes.
3. Form
> an element of art that usually has three dimensions, it is characterized by
having height and width but in addition, it will have the nature of depth.
Form may be enclosed or it can also have a free flow or movement
4. Value
> an element of art that is characterized by the tones or colors
Elements of Value
a. Tint
> any color where white is added
b. Shade
> any color where black is added
c. Hue
> pertaining to a color found in the color wheel or the
color spectrum
d. Tone
> any color where back and white is added and appears
to be gray-ish in nature.

5. Space
> an element of art whereby space is identified as positive or negative in
relation to depth.
6. Texture
> an element of art that pertains to the feelings that is stirred if we are to
touch/see an art work. It can also be defined as the roughness or smoothness
of a space.
