With Regrouping
749 + 198 =?
Align the numbers in a vertical position.
Add the ones digits. 9+8 = 17
The sum exceeds 9, we need to regroup. Write 7 in the ones place and carry 1 to the tens place.
Next, add the tens digits including the regrouped digit. 4+9+1 =14
Again, we need to regroup. Write 4 in the tens place and carry 1 to the hundreds place. Add the hundreds digits
including the regrouped digit. 7+1+1=9
So, we have 749+198=947
