Unit Test 1 Math Class X PDF

1) The multiple choice questions ask about factors of polynomials, solutions to systems of linear equations, and properties of polynomials. 2) One case study question describes how parabolic shapes represented by quadratic polynomials can be found in structures like bridges due to their efficient load distribution. 3) Other questions ask students to determine if a system of linear equations represents lines that intersect, are parallel or coincident, find the zeroes of a quadratic polynomial and verify the relationship between zeroes and coefficients, and use information about time and distance traveled to calculate train and car speeds.

Q.1-Q.6 are multiple choice questions. (6X1 =6)
1. If the product of zeroes x2 -3kx + (2k2 – 1) is 7,then values of k are
a) ± 2 b) ±4 c)+2 d)-2
2. A polynomial of degree n has
a) only 1 zero b) exactly n zeroes c)at most n zeroes d)more than n zeroes
3. The pair of equations x = 4 and y = 3 graphically represents lines which are:
a) Parallel b) intersecting at(3,4) c)coincident d)intersecting at (4,3)
4. Consider the following statements:
i) x-2 is a factor of x3 -3x2 +4x -4
ii) x + 1 is a factor of 2x3 + 4x + 6
iii) x-1 is a factor of x5 + x4 – x3 + x2 –x +1
In these statements
a) i and ii are correct b)i ,ii and iii are correct c) ii and iii are correct d)i and iii are correct

7. POLYNOMIALS- CASE STUDY Answer any 4 questions. (4x1=4)

CASE STUDY 1:
The below picture are few natural examples of parabolic shape which is represented by a
quadratic polynomial. A parabolic arch is an arch in the shape of a parabola. In structures,
their curve represents an efficient method of load, and so can be found in bridges and in
architecture in a variety of forms.
8. Find whether the lines representing the following pair if linear equations intersect at a
point, are parallel or coincident: 2x -3y + 6 = 0 , 4x -5y + 2 = 0 (2)
2
9. Find the zeroes of the polynomial 21 y – 11y -2 and verify the relationship between the
zeroes and the coefficients. (3)
10.Ramesh travels 760 km to his home partly by train and partly by car. He takes 8hours if he
travels 160km,by train and the rest by car. He takes 12minutes more if he travels 240 km by
train and the rest by car. Find the speed of the train and car respectively. (5)
