Problems Based On Solidworks: Suspension
Problems Based On Solidworks: Suspension
Suspension
Go through the YouTube link provided below. Understand the procedure. Prepare your own SolidWorks model
of Shock Absorber similar to the video. Make noticeable changes while designing your own parts.

Chassis
Draw a 2-D sketch of a Go-kart frame in SolidWorks Drawing, according to figure below. Choose
appropriate scale, page size & layout. You can change any given dimension by ±5% also no need to put the
weldment profiles. Your sketch must have all the components whose dimensions are explicitly given, position
of braces is wholly up to you.
Steering
Rack and Pinion is the most commonly used mechanism to steer vehicles. In this assignment, 2
SolidWorks-Part-files are shown and also provided below.
a) Download the files and create assembly of Rack and Pinion Mechanism. Teeth need not be touching
each other, but keep them close. There must be zero interference in teeth while mechanism is
working.
b) If this assembly is used in a vehicle, what will be C-factor for steering system in that vehicle?

R Side View
Point A of pedal will be attached to the frame and point B will be attached connecting rod. Slider is
connected to the rod and should slide on particular surface of frame. Some view of the 4 parts are provided
with all dimensions
Submission:
This assignment consist of 4 problems from 4 different subsystems. While solving them,
create 4 different folders for each problem. Keep all files related to the question in its folder.
If for some question, you have to submit an assembly file, then also submit all related part files
(i.e. .sldasm file must be submitted along with all .sldprt files used to create that assembly).
List of necessary files to be included is given:
Suspension: .sldasm file for Shock Absorber assembly.
Chassis: .slddrw file for drawing of Go-kart frame.
Steering: .sldasm file for R&P Mechanism.
Word file showing C-factor and method of its calculation.
Brakes: .sldasm file for Brake Pedal Assembly.
Video/Gif file of the animation showing motion of assembly.
While submitting, upload all 4 folders to OneDrive or GDrive. Create separate link for
each folder. Permission: ‘Anyone with the link can view’ must be given for each link. MS form
will be shared, in which you have to submit the 4 links carefully where they are asked.
