Overview
The HUAWEI NetEngine 8000 is a Huawei high-end network product. It is deployed at the edge of IP backbone networks, IP
metropolitan area networks (MANs), and other large-scale IP networks. The NetEngine 8000 works with core routers to provide
a complete and hierarchical IP network solution.

The NetEngine 8000 runs on the Versatile Routing Platform (VRP) operating system developed by Huawei and uses the
hardware-based forwarding and non-blocking data switching technology. The NetEngine 8000 has the following features:

 Carrier-class reliability, line-rate forwarding capability, excellent expansibility, well-designed quality of


service (QoS) mechanism, and strong service-processing capability
 Powerful service access and aggregation capabilities, flexible configurations with various features,
such as Layer 2 virtual private network (L2VPN), Layer 3 virtual private network (L3VPN), multicast,
multicast VPN (MVPN), Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Traffic Engineering (TE), and QoS, to
ensure carrier-class service transmission reliability
 Support for IPv6 and smooth transition from IPv4 to IPv6

The NetEngine 8000 can be flexibly deployed at the edge or core of IP/MPLS networks to simplify the network structure and
provide an extensive range of services and reliable service quality. The NetEngine 8000 is driving IP/MPLS bearer networks to
develop greater broadband capacities and to become more secure, intelligent, and service-oriented.

Cabinet installation standard The device can be installed in a standard 19" cabinet with a
depth not less than 1000 mm. It can be equipped with a
noise reduction module if being installed in a 1200 mm-deep
cabinet. By default, the 1.2 m (deep) x 2.2 m (high) Huawei
A612 cabinet (part number: 02116153) is installed. You can
also choose the 1.0 m (deep) x 2.2 m (high) Huawei A610
cabinet (part number: 02116078) with a convex front door.
