This course is developed as a third-year electrical engineering course and is


designed to provide the basic theory along with introduction to most common
machines without going into rigorous details of machine theory. The first topic
is to introduce students to electromagnetic principles and actuators such as
solenoids, relays and inductors. The second topic enables students to grasp
