LESSON PLAN (lesson 1)

PROCEDURE
A. Warm up: Sing a song Interaction: whole class Timing: 10 minutes
(Conduct activities to review the old lesson or activities related to the topic of the lesson you are
going to teach to attract Ss’ interest)
- As children come into the class, say Hello and smile. Encourage them to say Hello in response.
- Ask one child to stand up and say Hello to him / her. Encourage the child to respond with Hello.
- Point to yourself and say My name's... Ask a child What's your name? He / she answers My
name's...
- Say Stand up! and indicate to the class to stand at their seats. Say Sit down! and indicate for them
to sit again
B. New lesson:
(Conduct activities to present and practice the target language)
Activity 1: Learn new Interaction: whole class Timing: 10 minutes

- Bring FC out one at a time and say the names for children to repeat in chorus.
- Once children have learnt the characters'names, model the greeting Hello, Rosy! etc. and ask
children to repeat.
- As T bring out each flashcard, children respond with Hello, Tim! etc.
- Divide the class into two. When T reveal a flashcard, half of the class says What's your name? The
other half responds with My name's Billy, etc.
Activity 2: Play game Interaction: in team Timing: 10 minutes
“Slap the board”
- Display the flashcards from the vocabulary set on the board. Point to each one in turn for children
to say the words. Give the class a few seconds to look at them.
- Call 2 SS from 2 teams to play. As T says a new word, SS have to slap on the correct word on the
board and say “Hello, …” as well.
Activity 3: Listen Interaction: whole class Timing: 20 minutes

- Use Story poster to present the story.


- Focus attention on each frame in turn. Ask children to name as many things in the picture as they
can. Ask Who's in frame 1?, What can you see?, etc.
- Ask children to look at the poster while you play the recording for them to listen. Point to each
speech bubble in turn as you hear the text.
- Ask children to open their Class Books. Tell them to listen and follow the words in the story as you
play the recording again. Ask simple comprehension questions, e.g. Who is in the class? How old
is Billy? Is Billy in the class?
- Ask children to turn to the story on page 4 of their Class Books. Say Let's read the story again.
- Play the recording once through. Play again, pausing after each phrase for children to repeat
Activity 4: Play game Interaction: in team Timing: 10 minutes
“Who said that?”

- T says a random speech and SS try to guess who said that.


- Each correct answer will score one star.
Activity 5: Act out the Interaction: in group of 5 Timing: 20 minutes
story

- Ask children to work in team and try to act out the dialogue. T monitors the activity,
checking for correct pronunciation.
- Ask some of the groups to come to the front of the class to act out the story.
- The team which speaks fluently, acts naturally will get points.
Story actions
 Picture 1: Miss Jones holds out her hand as she talks to Rosy and Tim. Rosy and Tim wave as
they introduce themselves.
 Picture 2: Billy runs into the class. Miss Jones holds out her arms, looking surprised.
 Picture 3: Miss Jones bends down to ask Billy how old he is.
 Picture 4: Billy's mum beckons him with her arm. Billy is waving as he leaves the classroom.
C. Wrap up and homework: Interaction: whole class Timing: 3 minutes

PROCEDURE
Activity 1: Listen and Interaction: whole class Timing: 10 minutes

- Ask children to look at the pictures and Ask what they can see, and elicit words they think they
might hear in the song.
- Play the recording for children to listen and follow the song in their books.
- Recite the words of the song with the class, without the music or recording. Say each line and ask
children to repeat.
- Play the recording again for children to sing along and say their own name in the appropriate place.
Activity 2: Sing and do Interaction: whole class Timing: 10 minutes
- Ask
children to look at the pictures. Ask them to copy what the girls are doing in each of the pictures.
- Play the song for children to sing along and perform the actions that they can see in their Class
Books.
Song actions
 The girls greet each other by smiling and waving.
 The girls talk to each other.
 One girl points to herself. (She is saying her name.)
 The girls wave to each other to say goodbye.
