Lesson Topic: Dating, Courtship and Marriage

Schedule: Wednesday (1hour per meeting)

 I can explain the importance of courtship and dating in choosing a lifelong partner

Parts of the Sample Activities for a one-week lesson on Family Health in a Grade 8 Health Class

DIP First 15 minutes (Whole group)
1. Log-in for a scheduled video conference for setting weekly lesson goals and
discussion of important reminders for this week’s lesson.
Next 15 minutes –
2. Elicit students prior knowledge by making them read the following
sentences and tell whether they Agree or Disagree. They will explain or
tell something about their choice.
a. A growing number of youths are engaging in risky behavior without
understanding its consequences.
b. The role of media has significantly influenced the practice and values
of the youth
c. The youth being too young and lacking in experience should leave
DEEPEN/DO decisions to their parents on their future plans
d. Most adults are equipped and confident in communicating openly
about courtship and marriage with young people
( Teachers will collate responses to identify the prior knowledge of the
students. Misconceptions are corrected if there are any)
3. Watch the video clip entitled HARANA .PH feature on Kapuso Mo, Jessica

4. On the Padlet wall, write a two-sentence reaction to the video that you
watched.

5. Online task: DYADS ( Think-Pair-Share) The students will discuss their
responses. Discussion is to be facilitated by the teacher and follows with
emphasis on the importance of proper preparation before marriage.

8. Offline task: Interview your parents and asked the following question.
a. How did my parents meet?
b. What could have been their love story?
c. How did they keep love and respect alive through the years?

Note: Respect each other's work by not sharing it to others


 Family is the basic unit of society. It supports the molding and shaping of
your character and personality. It is through family that you learn the life
values like integrity, love and respect. This will prepare you in facing a
more complex side of life.
