An expensive thing that I’d love to have is Pink Sapphire ring which known as the
rarest ring in a jewellery industry. It is also known as the ‘Padparadscha’ ring that means
lotus flower in Sinhalese. The reasons why I’d love to have it as one of my treasures is
because of the meaning and beliefs that people have on the pink sapphire, its rarity and as
well as the price of its beauty.
First, it has a very wonderful meaning for its colour and interesting beliefs by the
people in the ancient past. The meaning of the colour is love which also meant beauty,
wisdom and purity of love. Besides, during the Ancient Rome in the 7th Century, pink
sapphire ring were given by the groom to the bride as a “token” for their sincerity and loyalty
in loving the bride. Moreover, it is also wore by several people for its magical power that
could cure any black magic and interpret oracles and foretell the future such as priests and
talismans.
Furthermore, it is one of the rarest colour in the sapphire family and that makes the
pink sapphire hard to find in any country. The rarity shows when pink sapphire only can get
in these 22 countries such as Australia, Sri Lanka, China and Thailand and these 3 countries
represent the most high quality pink sapphire compared to other unlisted countries.
According to the 2017 Gems Rock Auction’s statistics, pink sapphire holds rank as the top 5
most famous sapphire at 4% of sapphire sales followed by white, yellow and green sapphire.
In addition, pink is my favourite colour, and when it is known as the rarest sapphire colour
seems make pink as a special colour.
Last but not least, the price of pink sapphire ring is set by the design, quality and due
its rarity the price can be highly demanded by the retailers. The price range of pink sapphires
varies thoroughly based on the colour, carat and cut of the stone. For example, if the stone
is 2.86 carat for a dark pink sapphire ring, the price is $1,180 which valued RM5156.60,
meanwhile for lighter pink 2.0 carat stone, it costs at $820 which valued RM3583.40. Due to
a very limited sources of pink sapphire, the retail price seems quite expensive even for the
lighter pink. Although the price is quite expensive for a person like me, it doesn’t stops me
from dreaming of having it.
In conclusion, it was 3 years ago where I discovered on pink sapphire ring and after I
read so many interesting information about it, I fell in love with it. The meaning and beliefs of
the symbol much taught me that everything we surrounded has a value in it. The title “rare”
which makes me eagerly wants to own it with my own sweats. Even though the price is
unbelievable for me to afford, but that could make me the happiest person on earth if I own
it. As there is a saying by Winston Churchill, “never give up on something that you can’t go a
day without thinking about”. Moreover, it would be the item that I’d cherish the most. This is
the most expensive thing that I’d love to have on that one fine day.
