• Crankshaft vibration damper puller - D Ensure secondary intake camshaft sprocket
Chrysler No.1023/8194/8454. timing marks at 900 to edge of cylinder
• Crankshaft vibration damper installer - head m.
Chrysler No.6792-1/8179. D Ensure there are 12 chain link rollers located
• Chain tensioner bleeding/resetting tool - between timing marks.
Chrysler No.8186. • Check sprockets and chain for wear as follows:
D Turn crankshaft slightly until chain is taut on
General precautions non-tensioned side.
D Replace the timing chain if wear indicator
• Disconnect battery ground cable. (groove) 0 on tensioner is visible.

• Disconnect battery ground cable.

• Remove spark plugs to ease turning engine.
• Turn engine in normal direction of rotation
(unless otherwise stated).
• If required: Mark position of crankshaft position
(CKP) sensor before removal.
• Do NOT turn crankshaft via camshaft or other
sprockets.
• Observe tightening torques.

• Removal/installation of timing chain requires:


o Oil pan removal.
NOTE: Oil pump strainer prevents removal of
timing chain cover which incorporates oil
pump.
• Engine NO.1 cylinder at TDC of compression
stroke.
• Crankshaft sprocket keyway at 2 o'clock
position D.
• Camshaft sprocket keyway at 12 o'clock
position EJ.
• Reset timing chain tensioner prior to installation
as follows:
o Push tensioner against spring iI.
o Insert a suitable size pin through hole of
tensioner D.
