    Dear Student,

    thank you for your request for application details for DIA

    I would like to elaborate a bit on it


    Please send us the following documents:

    A) The filled out application form for the course and for accomodation
    if wanted-(see website download www.dia-architecture.de)
    incl. Photo and CV.
    Please clearly indicate your previous education and diplomas in the field.
    Please include a statement of intent explaining, why you would like to join the
    Mastercourse at DIA.

    B) Bachelors or other equivalent Achitecture Diploma of min 4 years duration, signed and
    certified by your University attesting that it conforms with the original incl. transcripts of
    grades

    C) Highschool Diploma signed by your School and signed as above incl. Grades

    D) Portfolio of min. 1 and max. 3 projects of yours as a PDF with max. 4MB

    E) TOEFL Test, Cambridge Exam or other language exam showing proof of your
    proficieny in English. (TOEFL minimum score: paper-based 400, computer-based 300)
    If you do not have such a test result at hand, please submit it by October when you come
    to Dessau.
    Please inform us in the application, when you will take the language exam- if not
    available at the time of submitting your application.

    FURTHER PROCEDURES

    If you are accepted to the course you should receive notifcation by July 15th 09.
    Once you have the acceptance letter you must start Visa proceedings with the German
    Embassy or Consulate nearest to you immediately .
    This procedure may take a long time, as several agencies in Germany are involved!

    To facilitate this process please note the following:

    1).) Send the original of the acceptance letter- only if this is under way and you want to
    initiate the Visa Process use the digital copy you receive as a first note.

    2.) All officially requested documents must be submitted in German

    3.) Therefore, please include in your application a German translation of your Health-
    Insurance Certificate, which must show, that you will be covered in Germany for at least
    the first month after your arrival (usually around the 1st Oct).

    4.) You will be required to show, that you have 585 €/month available and at your
    disposal when in Germany in order to cover your living expenses there.
    This can be fulfilled in two ways:

    A) Your parents sign a declaration which is usually available at the Embassy or


    Consulate, that they will provide you with these funds (usually 12x585 €=7.020 € for a
    year)

    B) You open a Trust Account in your name at the nearest Deutsche Bank Branch in your
    country and deposit this money into the account. This money will then be available for
    your disposal on your arrival.
    You can also deposit a smaller sum, but then the Visa will be limited in time to the
    multiples of 585 € you will pay in.

    A real minimum would be to pay in from October to August which amounts to 10x 585 =
    5.850 € as this would ensure the presence over an entire academic year of 2 Semesters.

    Please comply very tightly with these rules, as they are essential for obtaining a student
    visa to Germany for you.
