Building Physics - 1: Bio Climatic Chart

The bioclimatic chart is a graph with dry bulb temperature on the y-axis and relative humidity on the x-axis. It is used to assess the effectiveness of passive cooling techniques based on the interaction of the building and local climate. For Goa, which has a hot and humid climate, the bioclimatic chart shows the maximum and minimum temperature and humidity points for each month. This allows inferences about appropriate passive design techniques, such as increasing natural ventilation and using high thermal mass, to minimize heat gain and humidity for thermal comfort.
