Learning Diary
Day 1
On the first class on the subject of Emerging technology, platform and services, we learned
about the laws of IT relating it with different laws known to us in several ways. Few of the laws
that we discussed are:

 Moore’s law
 Gilder’s law
 Metcalfe’s law
 Hal Varian law
 Newton’s laws (I, II & III)
 Archimedes’ Principle
Next, we talked about new emerging technologies and innovations in it. Few of those
technologies are:

 Smart cities and 3D printing


In this, we talked about the futuristic possibilities into the developed world of 3D
printing. It gave us multiple ways to know and understand things which we could
never see and build with such precision.
 Big data analytics and why it is important.
 Cloud computing
 Augmented reality and virtual reality – In this, we discussed about the innovation in
every field which is a result of augmented reality and virtual reality.
 Robotics
 Mobile and wireless communications.
 Blockchain
 Artificial intelligence and Machine learning.
 Internet of Things.
We concluded this session with a jam board activity on drawbacks of Aarogya Setu application
and our views on it. Few of the mentioned points are:

 Aarogya Setu app uses Bluetooth Technology for location tracking of individuals. If
Bluetooth is switched off the app fails to work.
 The architecture if app is such that it detects covid patients or unwell individuals on
the basis of self-test/self-declaration. A genuine covid patient may never be
detected ever if he doesn't update the status on the app.
 No functionality to use the app on feature phones. (USSD could have been used)
 Privacy concerns as the app collects Travel History, Smoking Habits and other such
data.

Day 2

In this session, we talked about SMAC which is social, mobile, analytics and cloud and how
SMAC works and relating to the business approach of SMAC model. Following with the
discussion on quantum computing and how it will enable us to do fast computing and storing
and processing data.
Next, we discussed about the crowdsourcing and several clients which helps different entities in
gathering information, help, petition, etc. With discussion on crowdsourcing, we did some jam
board activity about several aspects of crowdsourcing choosing one of the service providers.
This took us towards our idea on crowdfunding with the website named “Ketto” and our points
were:

 Crowdfunding is a practice of giving monetary funds to overcome specific social,


cultural, or economic hurdles individuals face in their daily lives.
 Let us assume an individual, unfortunately, meets with an accident on the road and
now he needs ₹5 Lakh to pay his expensive medical bills.
 Any close person can create a crowdfunding campaign to raise fund.
 This campaign can be shared with all his near and dear ones through WhatsApp,
Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and E-mail.
 In a matter of few minutes, funds start coming in to support the financial needs of
the injured person.

Day 3
In this session, we discussed about cloud computing, how it works and what are the services
that comes with cloud computing. Few other things that we discussed on topics related to
cloud computing are:

 Advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing.


 Characteristics of cloud computing broad network access, resource pooling, rapid
elasticity, etc.
 Models of cloud computing services like IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
 Few examples of cloud computing.
The session ended with yet another jam board activity on Artificial intelligence engineering and
cloud computing, in which as a group we chose Microsoft and Oracle. Few of our points are:

 A multi-cloud strategy allows companies to select different cloud services from


different providers because some are better for certain tasks than others.

 To take on Amazon, Microsoft and Oracle joining hands.

Day 4

In this session, we discussed about big data and discussed about the layers which comes with it.
These layers are:

 Definition of data
 Information
 Knowledge
 Intelligence
 Wisdom
Concluding with the benefits of big data and states that data and information is the new gold of
upcoming future.
