I. Intended Learning Outcomes
Through varied learning activities, the Grade 8 students must have the following with at
least 85% accuracy must have the following:
1. determined if the given relation is a function using domain and
range.
2. Illustrated the ordered pairs through tabular method and mapping
diagrams
3. related relations and functions to real-life situation
4. integrated Relations and Functions across Science, Araling
Panlipunan, TLE, ESP and ICT.

III.Learning Experiences
Teacher Learners
A. Preparation
-Good Afternoon, Class! -Good Afternoon, Ms. Letada!
-Assigned Prayer Leader, you may - Leading the prayer
now begin.
- Once again, Good afternoon, - We're good! We're fine!
everyone! How's your day today?
-That's good to hear! Well, I would (Everyone is happily cheered on their
like to praise everyone specially to the seats for receiving the chips since 1 chip =
board director because the board is clean 3 points. )
and green as well as to the floor managers
because the room is clean and the chairs
are well-arranged.
Because of that, everyone will receive
this smiley face chip for a job well done!
-Okay, Group Secretaries, may I
know the status of your attendance?
- Okay, thank you Secretaries! - Each representative dictates the

you to understand if and only if, you will
listen to the discussion and participate to
the activities.
Remember, I still have a lot of chips here
so be active as much as you can. Is it -Yes it is, Ma'am!
clear?
- So class, if you hear the word
Relations, what comes into your mind? -Family , Ma'am!
-and it is also mean as the association -My relationship with my siblings!\
between two parties such as friends, but -My Forever or uyab2x!
class , how will you
relate the word relation to Mathematics?
Do you think there is a function between
relations? How will you relate this
concept to ordered pairs?
-So, let us find out through this
activity.
-Our first activity will enable you to
write ordered pairs. Who can still - An ordered pair is a representation of a
remember the ordered pair? point in the form of (x, y)
-Very Good! What are the names of two
ordered pairs? -Domain and Range
-The two of them are like husband and -Abscissa and Ordinates
wife, they should never be separated!
-Everybody, group yourselves into 3
members! (Students are grouping themselves)
-Everybody, please look at the visual
aids. Please Group the following objects
in such a way that they have common
properties or characteristics. Everybody, -Glass wine- Kitchen Utensils
you read the example.
-Then, right after, You will make an
ordered pair out of the activity you
made. For example, (Glass wine,
Kitchen Utensils)
-Is that clear?
-So I'll give you 5 minutes to finish the Yes, Ma’am!
task.
Act 1
B. Presentation
-3 Objects
-How many objects can be found in each -We classified the objects through pairing
column? according to its characteristics.
- How did you classify the object? -We observed that there are no domains
-Try to look at the examples. What that are keep on repeating.
have you observed to the domains? Are -The ranges are keep on repeating.
they any repeating domains?
-That's Good! How about the range?
-That's Good! And do you think this -I guess we can only say that a relation is a
relation is a function? function if the domains are not repeating!
-No ordered pairs have the same
-Why do you think so? domains.
-So, when can you say that a relation is a
function?
-Well class, this concept may also apply (The class becomes livelier
to a relationship. You should only have after hearing my hugot lines)
one domain in your life. Do not be a two-
timer so that your relation to your pair is a
function. Do you understand?
C. Practice
- So students, I have another set of
activity. In the same group, you will ask
each other your birth month. Your name (Students are collaboratively
will be the domain and the month will be doing their task)
your range through connecting arrows
like this example. Then, write the set of
ordered pairs below. I’ll give you 5
minutes to finish your task.
III.Assessment
Determine whether each relation is a function. Write F if it is a FUNCTION and NF if
it is NOT FUCNTION. Then, make a mapping diagram to represent the following set of
ordered pairs.
IV. Assignment
Interview your family, relatives, friends and neighbors who are already working.
Ask them their occupation, salary per month & number of hours of work per day. Make a
set of ordered pairs out of the information you gathered. Then, illustrate it through
mapping diagram. Make sure you affix their signature as a proof of evidence. Put this on
a short bond paper. (Minimum of 5 persons)
Illustrative Example:
Questions:
1. What have you observed to the salary received by the persons with their nature of work?
2. Does the nature of work greatly affect to the monthly salary receive by the person? Why?
3. As a student, what are your step-by-step process or career path for you to receive a good
salary? Illustrate your answer through ladder diagram.
4. Is finishing your studies enough for you to have a good living and to make your life more
convenient and more comfortable? If no, what are the values you should have for you to achieve
your goals in life?

1. Applied ● Classroom A week before the discussion of this lesson, I asked my
Knowledge of observation tool students what subject areas they found most challenging
content within (COT) rating and what areas they were easier to comprehend. Majority
and across sheet and / or of them said that Math and Science were the two subjects
curriculum inter-observer they found difficult while TLE, Aral Pan and ESP were
teaching areas agreement from the areas they found lighter. Thus, I incorporated my Math
about knowledge Lesson to these subject areas.
of content within In my first activity, I incorporated TLE specifically,
and across the Table Setting and Computer Hardware, I knew these
curriculum two concepts were quite familiar with my students as
teaching areas they always encounter these things in their daily life.
● Detailed Lesson To make the activity more challenging , I put up the
Plan developed Science Lesson specially the Laboratory Apparatus for I
highlighting knew, some of my students were heard these things for the
integration of first time.
content To catch my students' interest and enthusiasm to learn,
knowledge I related the concept of my topic to a relationship or love
within and across life. I added some hugot lines for I noticed that in every
subject areas time I crack a joke , my class feels alive and less lethargic.
Hence, the values integration applied in my Math lesson.
In addition , I integrated my lesson to Araling
Panlipunan which involved a community and a family.
Through this, I made my lesson lighter and easier to
comprehend.
My students were also engaged with one another as they
asked their classmates' birthdays . I heard lately that some
students were fighting each other over small things so, to
make them closer and more comfortable to one another, I
put up this activity for this purpose.
I ended my lesson by giving them assignment to ask and
to interview the community member about the nature of
their work , salary per month and number of hours of work.
I let them do this activity not only for the integration of
Math lesson, but also to make them realize the importance
of education in their life. I want them to reflect that
finishing their studies make them more comfortable and
more convenient in living.
