Genos StyleFinder

User Manual for V1.3


Introduction
Genos StyleFinder (from now on simply called ‘StyleFinder’) helps finding that one single style out of the 550
factory-styles and the Superior Genos 2 pack available in the Yamaha Genos. It makes this task easy and blazing fast.
You can search on (any part of the) title, measure or speed.

Installation
StyleFinder is a dot.Net applications that runs on Windows 7, 8 and 10.
StyleFinder doesn’t have an installer. All you have to do is place the exe file (StyleFinder.exe) on your desktop or in a
folder, and you are good to go. If used frequently you can create a shortcut on your desktop, start-menu or at the
task-bar.

Resizing
Since V1.2 it’s possible to resize StyleFinder up to 4 times it original size. Because of the complexity of the resize
process, the form with pop to the right size-ratio after each resize. Horizontally will follow Vertically and vice versa.

Categories, tabs and modes


The StyleFinder closely resembles the Genos Style screen, with its buttons and tabs. In ‘normal mode’ you can click
one of the style categories and look at the styles at their normal positions, with comments (if available) and the
tempo. This will change when one of the other modes (name search, measure selection or tempo search) is
selected. StyleFinder will search each category and find the styles that match the query. The category will light up.

A click on one of the lit style category buttons will show the styles StyleFinder found, with as comment the tab and
position of that style. A click on the style brings you back to ‘normal mode’ again and the style is highlighted.

Name search mode
Click the magnifying glass and type a search word. Click one of the lit categories to see the styles and their position.

Measure search mode


Click the item list to search for styles with a certain measure. Click one of the lit categories to see the styles and
their position. All ‘special’ 4/4 styles are only visible in that special category (8 beat, 16 beat etc.).

Tempo search mode
Click the metronome to search for styles at a tempo-range. Move the top arrow to the lowest wanted tempo and the
bottom array to the highest. The resulting styles are sorted on tempo (and position if the tempo is the same).

For all three categories: A click on one of the found styles brings you to the original page with the highlighted style.

The Crown
Finally, the golden ‘Key-Crown’ of the Oostendorp logo has a small function. No less than 3 different (Dutch) web-
pages can be opened, using your default Internet browser.
